Re: Tach Race 2014 !!!!!!!!!
The 2014 Tach Race is now history. 10 Contestants entered a total of 19 Engines, and ALL started easily, with most being pretty stable on their needles.
Mark Boesen came in first with his red monster starting and running right up to it's winning RPM. Doug's Unlimited was close behind, with Jason and Matt's Ex Model Engine running 3rd and 4th.
Unlimited:
1: Mark @ 19830
2: Doug @ 19560
3: Jason @ 18960
4: Matt @ Ex Model Engines @ 18360
5. Ron @ 17490
6: Rodney @ 15840
7: Wayne @ 12100
Ron's shiny Mouse Engine blew right up to 20250 and 1st Place with the needle valve totally closed...a bit strange but, a run is a run!
Wayne's wild "Space Widow" came in at 19420 with Doug's Mouse right behind at 19380.
Mouse:
1. Ron @ 20250
2. Wayne @ 19420
3. Doug @ 19380
4. Jason @ 18750
5. Mark @ 18420
6. Bernie @ Cox International @ 18210
7. Rodney @ 14840
Jason's open-ended .020 once again started and ran well, as did Bob's custom-needled .020.
.020 Unlimited:
1. Jason @ 19340
2. Bob @ 17610
M.F.D. Matt's Baby Mouse immediately jumped to life and settled at it's top end of 20010, putting some space between it'self and Jason and Mark's .020's.
Baby Mouse .020:
1. Matt M.F.D. @ 20010
2. Jason @ 17820
3. Mark @ 14100
A special thanks to Mr. Rusty for his balancing of the Unlimited and Mouse categories' 5-3 Gray Props. These will be sent home with the 1st Place engines, along with the props for the 1st Place .020 winners.
Matt from Ex Model Engines has contributed his Tach Race Unlimited as a Prize for 1st in that Class, won by Mark.
Bernie from Cox International also donated his Purple Mouse Engine, which will go to Ron. Bernie's 4 $25 gift certificates will be distributed to the 2nd Place winners of Unlimited and Mouse, and the 1st Place winners in .020 Unlimited and .020 Baby Mouse.
Also, thanks to Rodney Boreham for his ultra long-distance entries from Australia !
I'll be shortly posting individual and class photos, with the engines starting the way home early this week.
Thanks to everyone who entered Tach Race 2014, and also to Susie for recording the runs and cleaning and oiling the engines.

Re: Tach Race 2014 !!!!!!!!!
First off let me just say thank you to Kim for once again hosting this event. I know what goes into these things and it's a lot of work.
I made a last minute change to my unlimited. I changed way too many parts and did not even test it. You get what you put into it.
I have no idea what's going on with the Mouse. Plumbing is standard honest! I added the shim I should have added last year and JB welded the vent that was leaking. It too went untested. Very surprised with the results on that one.
Most importantly congratulations to all the winners and participants. I look forward to the competition but most of all the camaraderie.
Cox engines rock
I forgot to thank Matt and Bernie
Both of those fellers provide outstanding support to these events and their contributions are truly appreciated by all. Thank you !
Also a special thanks to Susie for being Kim's right hand woman and putting up with our hijinks.

Kim,
Thank you for hosting the event. Also thank Susie for helping. Cleaning gooey castor off of engines isn't a fun task.
Hopefully no cut fingers!
Also thanks to Bernie and Matt for providing prizes.
My mouse engine didnt blow up. The piston this engine is lighter than a Venom piston. Needs more tweaking though.

Thanks Doug,
I still don't understand what's going on with that needle. I wonder if fuel is getting sucked into the venturi through the gasket.

Congrats to the winners and kudos
to all the entrants..
Thanks Bernie, Matt and especially Kim.
Entering an engine is easy, but hosting
the race takes huevos grandes.
(Please thank Susie for us too, Kim)
Thanks also to Jacob and Mark for maintaining
the sites that bring us all together.

Don't sweat my engines Kim. Take your time. Especially with my unlimited. You can use that to perfect your golf swing.

Hey Rusty...
"Rare Bear" vs. "Dago Red"

Hey Rod,
Yeah, I'd thought they'd go a lot higher than they did, but I promise that nothing changed between their run and the other engines.
Also, I was a bit worn last night and neglected to thank you for championing the Tach Race and encouraging others to enter.
I really hope it was worth the effort for you as it was surely an honor to have your engines compete in the race.

Australia to Missouri is a big climate/atmosphere shift. I wouldn't be surprised if they turned up higher when they get home.
