Cox Engine of The Month
The "Tiny Jewel of Energy" arrives

The "Tiny Jewel of Energy" arrives
Bought for use on my yet to be built Grumman Avenger.
My most significant purchase related to this hobby ever. I remember looking at them in my local hobby shop some 70 years ago and not being able to afford one instead buying the less expensive Cox Babe Bee's. When your earning fifty cents an hour, five dollars for a ten hour day working on a poultry farm, a couple of bucks is a huge amount. Nostelgia purchase maybe, but it will be put to work after some restoration.
I think the instructions are permanently glued to the cardboard.
I sent this scan to Levent, maybe the emblem in the lower left hand corner will help him make a copy. Later I will attempt to remove the instructions and clean the illustration.

Looks like a case of like somebody put gas in it The sort of melted plastic-mixed glue that was inside came out slowly sticking the instructions on the sheet Once restored should be a very good engine

Confusing, the fuel tank is clean, the piston shows no signs of combustion as does the clyinder/head, but the tubing says fuel. No matter. I did remove the stuck instructions with a little heat and a knife.
I see that the spring starter was never installed, or did it come with it installed and someone removed it? I took it apart with some fear. I ruined one back in the 1990's when I twisted the cylinder while trying to remove it. Thankfully, the cylinder unscrewed (heat gun) while I was removing the glow head. I did not want to put the Cox tools fork into the exhaust ports.
Waiting for Matt/Bernie to arrive.

Really nice engine Bob and I’m sure you’ll put it in first class condition…I’m kind of like you on buying engines you could afford as a teenager…. Or repurpose product engines…I did scrape up enough to get a TeeDee .020 when I was about 16…. Fortunately still have it….

Thanks Robert, at first I thought the Avenger model might be too small for the .010, but it's about right. Really tiny engine.
I just lost out on this W/M P-38 ebay auction. Actually napped through it. I meant to wake up and over-bid myself. Didn't happen. My bid $203, sold for $216. That's ok, I have one but.....
So, with $$'s in my pocket I went looking for Tee Dee's. Found this:
Cheaper than the .010 and in about the same condition. Visited Bernie again and ordered the aluminum stuff.
