The box, "Dad's Christmas Bells", and a Cox and Cabin connection
Rainy this morning so I worked inside the Cabin.
We have intentions of putting in insulation and a ceiling above the rafters so my fathers Christmas bells hung from the main frame ridge rafter had to come down. I hung them there years ago when we first moved in. When Dad retired he bought a small country store and played them there every Christmas. Simple thing with a paper punch card and copper fingers making connections and ringing one of the bells tuned to a different note.
To protect the player I put it in a plastic box that used to house my entire collection of Cox engines. Good thing too, it got nasty up there. Brought it in the garage and washed it with hot soapy water. I may throw a few older Cox engines in there for old times sake and find a place for it in the basement.
Bulbs light up, most of them and the old player still rings the bells.
"That box used to house my entire Cox collection" True story.
