Duende V model from RC Model magazine 1983.
In 1983, if I remember correctly, I bought my first magazine in Spanish, the world-renowned RC Model. Seeing the magazine in my early days was like being in front of a shop window where the imagination had no limits, the illusion of being able to access some rc model, engine and radio was like thinking about climbing the Himalayas.
Having a clear conviction of what we naturally like helps us to project beyond the economic and this in any field, because energies will be gathered and focused on what one truly feels and wants.
I found in that magazine a beautiful model, a mix just as the author of the article describes it, of a glider and an acrobatic plane, clean aerodynamic lines and a relatively low cost for those of us who were beginning to "save" and project a model. After about 9 years, back in 1994, I built a Duende V, which I did not fly personally. A friend saw it in my old workshop and fell in love with it, making me an offer to exchange materials that really helped both of us, he to enjoy the model himself and me to continue advancing in another field within the aeromodeling activity. This is the only photo I have of that model hanging in my workshop without flying, waiting for its time to come.
That model was not built like the original, I respected the fuselage (only), but I completely changed the wing, the profile and stabilizer, based on the experience of the Cosmo .10 that turned out to be very good for learning to fly r/c, that stabilizer also had a considerable mobile surface, everything was to experiment and it turned out great.
The cockpit that I adapted was from the renowned F3A model called OCLAF 60, designed by the friend and respected aeromodeler, Mr. Daniel Falco.
My friend who kept that Duende V, was able to enjoy it a lot, since it turned out to be a very practical model due to its size and very good flight performance. He had installed an O.S. .10 or .15 engine, I don't remember, with which it went wonderfully. What happened to that model? I don't know anymore.
After some time, and in a nostalgic way with that plane, today I want to reproduce it again, this time respecting the aerodynamic profile of the original wing, also the shape of the wing and slightly modifying the incidence of the angle of attack of the same and also changing the position of the stabilizer.
According to my available time, I will advance in this nice project of yesteryear.
