Re: Skyray 35 Build - Faux Streak look
Thanks guys, I'm pleasantly surprised this try worked out so good. If I ever bust the rudder, I'll try again at some sort of tail feathers. I just got impatient and quit on that before maiden day.

Envious! Every time I apply "Solartex" to decorate a wing - I manage to make a right old mess of it.
That looks very neat and such a large piece to apply.

Re: Skyray 35 Build - Faux Streak look
Rusty, It looks REAL GOOD man!!! I was looking through the old model airplane ads that Kim posted a few days ago.. and saw a little Scientific "Golden Hawk" ad. It immediately caught my eye because of the wing graphic. It may have helped you draw-out another option.. but I think you've definitely nailed an awesome look for your airplane though.
The tip "finger" feathers on yours needed to turn outwards for the best look with those "streak" wing-tips.. where these on the Golden Hawk, taper inward.
Check out this image link.

That looks really good Rusty. The plane is looking sharp.
Now you have showed me how to do some artwork on my planes.
Thanks

Re: Skyray 35 Build - Faux Streak look
Thanks for the compliments. Now I just have to fly it!
I made the name and numbers for it too. I better get that other wing on tonight. It looks like we're on for a Saturday flying expedition. I better be careful, I haven't flown a pattern since July 22.

Holy COW! I gotta try this. Maybe make something up for the BTC-4. How he put all the steps of this together is amazing. Hard to believe this video is 6 years old, and I've never seen it.

Re: Skyray 35 Build - Faux Streak look
Yeah that is a pretty good trick. Almost as long as Press N Seal has been out.
We're watching the weather and Tuesday is looking better than the weekend. A couple of extra days for me to get over my gimpiness won't hurt either. I haven't flown a pattern in a long time. July 22 I think. I better be careful.

I realize that your 1/2A stunt fleet has dwindled.. but do you have a "docile" little airplane you could throw a Babe Bee on and fly a few times beforehand? I'm figuring it might help get you back used to turning circles.. and wouldn't force your range of motion.. or tug nearly as hard on that healing arm. Might even be fun!!
Re: Skyray 35 Build - Faux Streak look
Hey Roddie, I thought about that too. With a little glue I've actually gotten back up to a decent fleet. Two flite Streaks and the Li'l Satan, plus some toy planes. Maybe I can give one a rip. That does sound like fun, and it should light the bug, which is laying on its back wiggling its legs right now.
I'm also trying to come up with some silver Monokote under-wing graphics so it doesn't disappear into the blue sky. I'm thinking of some big scary open talons on legs. Just abstract like the wings. I've tried drawing them out of lines and triangles, but after 4 tries, haven't hit on it yet.
I made some cool looking Word Art text graphics and printed them onto decal paper for the Osprey name and AMA number.

Use yellow and orange with silver claws, make the legs banded.
OK, that might be over the top.

Here's another link to some eagle claw graphics... what the heck.. it might give you some ideas.

Re: Skyray 35 Build - Faux Streak look
Yeah Phil, that yellow and orange might be over the top. My... currently bleeding... Carolina Gamecock is Garnet and Black. Their arch rival Clemson is orange. Soooo, mebby not, thank you.Lol
Roddie, thanks, I've been all over that page. What I want is in the same style as the wings on the top two in this pic:
But Lo! I might have found something I can work with on that page! So double thanks. Here's your prize:
She's wearing Jadaveon Clowney's number so she might mess you up!

Are y'all sick of this plane yet!?
One more picture installment. The photo doesn't do justice to the colors. The text is a three color gradient from black at the top, fading through blue to violet at the bottom.
