Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
I would think they would be stock since the pistons, cylinders, cranks and heads are all standard Cox Bee parts. None have High compression heads in either the new II form or the original form.

I'd think that they would qualify as "Stock" since they are comprised of the components of the original engines that were listed.

Hey Everybody,
Stock, I have no problem with Golden Bee II and Black Widow II
Kim is right, we need to look at Novice/Stock class for what it is, a chance for a new guy to have some fun and not for a chance to push the rules.
If I take a strong running Black Widow w/ hicomp head, polish the crank, remove intake screen, install fuel line on needle, new reed, etc. is it stock or a Mouser?
I'd almost like to see Stock/Novice just that, totally stock, no Mods!
And if it wasn't so late in the ballgame to make Stock/Novice open to only Sure Starts, Babe Bees and Golden Bees, all single port engines with std. heads!

Okay so if I understand correctly, I can clean up a 1702 head and enter my Killer Bee into Novice class.Kim wrote:RknRusty wrote:Thanks. If Kim says I can't use the Merlin I'll either get one or switch categories to a non-stock. I'd really rather compete with a pure stocker.
However I'm still not clear as to whether a pure stock Killer Bee can run in Novice class.
...I'd like to keep the Novice Class Limited to the basic ones listed, since this was our attempt to give new guys, those running on a tight budget, and "Non-Grinders" a venue to compete. Cox Tee Dee Heads, Reeds, and Head/Cylinder Gasket Adjustments to a basic engine would seem to be fair to those who want to compete in Novice....
I hope to test run my first entry tonight. I think I'm going to have time for another entry.

[quote="Kim"]
Any combination of Cox parts, reed or rear rotor.
Any porting, grinding, chopping, you think will work.
Any head/glow plug or glowhead, RR-1 or Rear rotor type of rear induction systems are fine.
NO front induction TD/Medallion crank/crankcase. NO Cyclon, VA, &
Norvel stock or modified to reed induction. Intent is that these be Cox-based engines like the Black Widow, Sure-Start, Space Hopper, RR-1, Space Hopper, etc.
___________________________________________________________________________
Mouse 1
Any AMA legal Cox rear reed, with tank. Except no Cyclon conversion.
See AMA rules for more info.
Novice class open to any unaltered, stock 'Hobby' engine.
This would include, but not limited to: Golden Bee, Babe Bee, Black Widow, Silver Bee, Sure Start, Space Bug, Etc.
Engines excluded would be a Killer Bee or Venom or any modified engine with nonstandard components.
For example: If someone sends in a Black Widow with Tee Dee cylinder and/or Nelson head the engine would be moved to the Mouse 1 category.
Contest Director would have the final determination of class placement.
__________________________________________________________________________
Contestants will send engines (Limit one engine per class) in a returnable box with return label filled out (no priority mail) plus adequate funds to cover return shipping.
Please do keep in mind that this is intended as a "Fun" event and that Travis and I will do our best to give each engine a fair run. We won't have time to do "Deep Adjustments" to attain the absolute maximum RPM, so please attempt to have the engines as "ready-to-run" out of the box as possible.

Mouse Class, is that pretty much the unlimited, but with a tank? aka Blue Flame, Xtreme, Terminator, Venom?
I would assume an 051 could be run in the unlimited?

Kim, you should have my "faked" black widow on Saturday...if USPS can be trusted in their estimates.

I hope to get mine shipped Saturday. Monday is a federal holiday, no mail pickup. Worse comes to worst, there's always UPS.
I'll have a Mouse 1(I think) and an unlimited... if I can get it to turn faster than 17.2k.

Is there a PeeWee class?
Yeah...we got started talking about it late in the game, but if you send it, I'll run it. Probably call it the "Pee Wee Outlaw Class" and do it just for grins on this lap. Depending on the number sent, we could run them as "Stock" and "Modified" on the honor of the word of those who submit them.
Same fuel: 25% Sig, with that gray prop (can't remember the #'s) that is popular with them.

Mark and I talked about this earlier, and have decided to award Bernie's Terminator by drawing, so that all entrants have a shot at owning this excellent engine! Each entrant will have their name placed in a hat, or bucket, or whatever, and I shall attempt to acquire a suitable attractive female to serve as "Official Drawer".

Hi Kim, I shipped two engines this AM to your PO box #from last year. I had much trouble tuning this year, think I might have had a bad batch of fuel.
If they give to much trouble set them aside. Thanks Doug

And...it Begins !!!
Just received packages from Bob, and Matt and will be be putting them in the "Impound Drawer" of my tool box!
Thanks to Bob for his "Care Package" of safety equipment that accompanied his engine! All of it will be utilized!
Matt has also made an incredibly generous donation to this little race, and I'll be posting photos of such in the other thread concerning Prizes and Donations.
We are a very lucky bunch to have the likes of Matt and Bernie among us, and I hope they realize just how much they're appreciated !

Kim,
I haven't received Bernies entry and the prizes yet. I am hoping for Monday. It is going to be cutting it close to get it to you by the 26th. Just wanted you to be aware.

My Killer Babe tested respectably with a Master Airscrew. I was sure I didn't have a gray Cox, but Damned if I didn't turn one up... right after I shipped the engine. Can't wait to see if the li'l Babe can swing it.
Hoping it's cool and dry and the barometer's high.

It was a 2-3 day service and should have been delivered last Thursday. I believe Monday is a stat holiday in the USA?
You might have to Fedex this then and, if you do, please let us know your $$ outlay and we will reimburse you.

Bernie,
I have Canadian parents and they send stuff to their grandkids weeks in advance and it still arrives weeks and sometimes months late. Cusoms is the culprit I am sure.

Still, Xpresspost is prioritized through customs. On Friday, tracking showed it as on the way to your city from somewhere in Florida. Should show up on Tuesday.
