I would love to see a vintage class. A think a stock/ mod Pee Wee would be fun. I can throw in a stock Pee Wee.

Sounds good to me. What prop and fuel do you think? I've got the gray and flexible black (can't remember their numbers at the moment)

Same fuel, Sig 25% just to make it easier on the wallet.
For the .020 I kinda like the little 3 bladed 3.125x2.5 jobber as it spins the Pee Wee up real nice like. We could also do the 4.5x2

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
I do think when it comes to classes everybody is gonna have a idea or two and I think in order to not make it to complicated and to have depth in each class we need to limit it to 3-4 classes max.
I always thought it would fun to have a 'torque' class, who could set-up a Reedie to tun a 10"x6" prop the fastest, but thats my $.02

Pee Wee prop grey 4.5x2 as these are readily available and put a good load on the engine. But you are the host so its your call. I have an unlimited Pee Wee to enter and I have to decide on a stock Pee Wee as a have a couple to choose from.....

Nope...If we're gonna do this I'll need some direction from you guys. I'm sure I've got the 4.5 x2 props, and of course, plenty of Sig 25 to run them.
So...
The Peewee Stock entries would be basic, metal or stock backplates and limited to reed and/or head changes?
The Peewee Unlimiteds would be .020's just having reeds with metal tanks, helicopter, or other style back-plates allowed...hacked or ground to suit the owner?
Fuel: Fresh Sig 25% and a Gray 4.5 x 2 Prop.?
The two classes in PeeWee .020 shouldn't be too big a problem, as I've got use of the hangar for both days, and can run them on Sunday if need be.
Let me know Dudes!

Kim,
The Pee Wee classes look good.
Sig 25% and the Cox grey 4.5x2 will work for me. I can supply a few props if needed.

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
There was talk of a "Classic" class. Are you guys still interested. More importantly... what would be the rules for the class?
Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
To the Tach Race organizers:
Do you need prizes and/or any parts/accessories for the show?
Same as last time, we can donate something but do let us know today as we need to Xpresspost the items today so that you have them in time.
Open to suggestions as to how many prizes and what they could be

Hi Bernie,
Thanks you again for your support ! I'd suppose the props and whatever other accessories you and Matt might donate will be greatly appreciated, and recognized. As before, if your Race Engines are donated afterward, I'll pass them on as awards for the top guys in each class.
Any suggestions from the Forum and .049 Group would be appreciated !

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
I was thinking of donating some new engines a prizes for first prize and lesser prizes for position 2 and 3.
There are 3 classes, correct?
Also, what has Matt pledged, just so that we don't double up here.

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
I am happy to just participate however, perhaps a small gift certificate that could be used towards our next orders from Cox International or Exmodelengines? That way we get a prize and support our suppliers at the same time. Just a thought.

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
Ok, we have decided on the following:
Our entry, the "Terminator" engine as a prize.
3 Gift certificates of $50 each
3 Gift certificates of $25 each
3 Gift certificates of $10 each
The judges are to decide how the prizes will be allocated. 9 Paper certificates are being sent out today, together with the "Terminator". On the paper certificates are instructions on how to redeem for merchandise in our store located at www.coxinternational.ca

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
I'm building a pure Killer bee, and that cannot be a Novice, right?Kim wrote:....(NOVICE)...Engines excluded would be a Killer Bee or Venom or any modified engine with nonstandard components.....
Also if I can't find a Cox 1702 head I will use one of the Cox International clamp/drop-ins. Would that dis-qualify it as stock too?
This head is what I would use in place of a Cox 1702:

Thanks,
Rusty
P.S. If I have time I will enter the Black Widow I built mouse racer style last winter. It will have the same drop-in plug as well. I suppose I'll let you decide what class they best fit.

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
Thanks. If Kim says I can't use the Merlin I'll either get one or switch categories to a non-stock. I'd really rather compete with a pure stocker.
EDIT: After re-reading the rules I'm clear now that a replacement head with drop-in plug cannot be used as pure stock in the Novice class. So I'll proceed accordingly.
However I'm still not clear as to whether a pure stock Killer Bee can run in Novice class.

Re: "The Original Tach Race 2013"
Sounds interesting!
I'm really interested but since I'm in Asia, shipping might take a long while to reach USA, I think I have to give up this year, need to order a lot of parts for this, but running out of time .
Good luck guys!!

Novice
Novice class open to any unaltered, stock 'Hobby' engine.
This would include, but not limited to: Golden Bee, Babe Bee, Black Widow, Silver Bee, Sure Start, Space Bug, Etc.
Engines excluded would be a Killer Bee or Venom or any modified engine with nonstandard components.
For example: If someone sends in a Black Widow with Tee Dee cylinder and/or Nelson head the engine would be moved to the Mouse 1 category.
Contest Director would have the final determination of class placement.
__________________________________________________________________________
I'd like to keep the Novice Class Limited to the basic ones listed, since this was our attempt to give new guys, those running on a tight budget, and "Non-Grinders" a venue to compete. Cox Tee Dee Heads, Reeds, and Head/Cylinder Gasket Adjustments to a basic engine would seem to be fair to those who want to compete in Novice.
The "Out-of-the-Box Super Engines" such as Xtremes and Blue Bullets would more likely fit the Mouse and Unlimited Classes.
Please let me know your thoughts on this as I want the Tach Race to be fair and fun for everybody sending in their engines.
