András, dear friend, I think you were enthusiastic about building a P-51, if so, then I am very happy, the model is very beautiful, it really is.balogh wrote:Thanks Mauricio, clear enough!
Everything you need in the step by step, any doubt, please let me know and according to what I am learning in this construction, I will gladly transmit it to you.

well here we go with the main landing gear.
The plane of this model aircraft does not have landing gear, so I have incorporated material into the structure to be able to carry one, here I show in the photos.
Be careful!, do not climb, do not want to fly!, everything is pre-assembled and loose there! LOL

Thanks Mauricio, I am definitely planning to build another RC bird for my 010-s, in addition to the Sharkface, that weighs 160 grams. I want a lighter, faster ship.
I will approach you for advice once I start bulding the Mustang. And I cannot wait to see the maiden flight of yours!

Well, I don't exactly know the name of these parts, but they are the continuation of the fuselage to achieve a larger wing seat, that is, a larger contact surface.
(attention: these are two pieces of wood glued with ciano drops, once they are carved the same, I separate them with the knife)
Here in the photos, the process....

Mauricio,
I am also not a native English speaker, but would call them wing saddle. Not only useful to better distribute the load between the wing and fuselage, but with a smooth transition between the wing and fuselage, these saddles will improve the aerodynamics of the Mustang, for sure.
I saw you have added a layer of glue on the inside of the wing center sheeting? What is this glue, something light and strong as CA?

Well after I looked up Kiri wood and learned all I need to know about it LOL ,, I see you have decided to use the rubber band method of attaching the wing to the fuse. I was wondering if you would use that , Good job on making the saddles. The incorporating of the landing gear really looks good . Looks like a P-51 Mustang to me

If it is to make it easier to mount the wing, then it is a saddle. If it is to give a smooth transition between wing and fuselage for aerodynamic purposes, then the English word is, "WING FILLET" (magyarul "törzsig a szárny filé", if these on-line translators are correct. )
Sobre los idiomas, lo sé usted es un húngaro, yo también no soy un hispanohablante (pregunta a @944_Jim ), pero lo intento duro. About languages, I know you are a Hungarian, I am also not a Spanish speaker (ask Jim), but I try hard.

Thanks to all for the clarifications!...
András, I don't know exactly the point or photo you are asking me, but I have given the structure of the wing and fuselage a very light coat of DOPE 50% and Thinner 50%, which makes it firmer.
The wing in the center will have a strip of doped silkspan paper to reinforce the central joint, but I haven't gotten to that point yet.
If I can't answer your question, please let me know!

Sorry Mauricio it was my mistake. I looked through the wing fins and thought what I saw was the backside of wing sheeting. In fact it was the table top.

Landing gear wire screws need washers to retain wire more securely?

She's looking really Good , I like the way it has a lot of curves in it I know you got the landing gear glued in but, it would not hurt with some washers on the screws to give more strength. It is going to look Nice when covered and fling

Re: Another Cox .010 converted to R/C & P-51 Mustang. (Flight page 5)
Yes friends, I had thought about placing washers, but after seeing that each train was really well secured with just the head of the screw, then I decided not to place washers. So, Levent and Eric's suggestions made me rethink it and so I decided to put washers, of course it's much safer that way. Thanks friends!

Great job, way to go Mauricio. What is that grey material - looks like sponge, but cannot be - that you stuffed into the tank neck insert as stopper, holding the fuel and vent lines?

Thank you very much dear friend for your comment.
What you see as a sponge is a hard rubber block, here they sell it as a rubber block for sandpaper:

Re: Another Cox .010 converted to R/C & P-51 Mustang. (Flight page 5)
And here's a big surprise!!!....it was a coincidence!!
You may know but I didn't, I was playing my Cox .010 in the P-51 Mustang and wondering what a Cox .020 would look like in there...to my surprise it can be put straight in with virtually no major modifications , just make another hole for the carburetor needle and nothing else!!!
The Cox .020 bench matches the Cox .010 reservoir! So the P-51 Mustang could enjoy it with either engine!...great!!!

Yes, Mauricio, I always build bulkheads that accommodate either the 010 with tank, or the 020 TeeDee without tank/with backplate. The stock mounting screw distances are a bit different, though.

Nice work on your Mustang Mauricio, very inspiring …. Also, I like the use of the brass connectors for aileron control horns…. Looks like you could adjust their height as needed for control throw by re-soldering if needed…. Muy sabio…
