Cox Super Power Fuel works very well. It's available in 25% nitro and 35% nitro. I prefer the 25% it's easier on plugs. Tower Hobbies carries it but I also source it through a local hobby shop who orders it for me at the same cost as Tower Hobbies. It's a win win for me and the owner.

Cox Super Power Fuel is great fuel. A few years ago we had the product manager from Hobbico-Cox (username "Kruzn") come on here and a number of members participated in trial runs of various formulas. https://www.coxengineforum.com/t7143-cox-super-power-fuel#89717 Prior to that, the fuel did not contain the proper amount of castor oil required.
I also like Sig 15% and 25% nitro (I even have 35%, but that's basically racing fuel). I've also used Byron 1/2A straight castor (I think it was 22% nitro?, I'd have to find my old bottle and see).
Whatever you use, just make sure the fuel contains a minimum of 20% oil with no less than 1/2 of that castor.

The new fuel blend is in production and will be shipping to our Champaign warehouse by the end of the month. The west coast warehouse (Reno) will receive it about 1-2 weeks later. Kim has already received the fuel for the contest.
I've attached a photo so you can see the changes we made to easily identify the "new" from the "old".
Please note:
Old (on left):
small cap
horizontal flute
tapered neck
tall label
New (on right):
large cap
vertical flute
straight neck
shorter label
contents sticker
Stock numbers:
25% - COXP1005 (same as previous number)
35% - COXP1010 (new number)
The Cox Fuel website still shows the older bottle and product info. It will be updated soon.

The "Sig" they speak of is from "sigmfg.com." Then navigate to: "field equipment/fuel/fuel-airplane/" and choose from the various varieties of "Champion."
The Cox Superpower new blend is very good too. In fact I like its performance as much or better than Sig. However, I have had two different bottles with less than leak-proof caps.

Also check out Bernie's fuel guide: https://coxengines.ca/files/FG.pdf It gives a good rundown on the basics and includes a list of suitable fuels.

Others have already pointed the way. A lot depends what part of the world you are in, here are direct links to fuels in US.
Tower Hobbies: Cox Super Power 1/2A Fuel 25% Quart
and
Sig Champion Fuel
These meet the recommended 20% oil content, with at least half as Castor, other half can be Synthetic. Cox engines are happiest with higher nitro content fuel of 25% - 30%, but you can get by with 15%.

Also, if you buy the SIG fuel, make sure to order it in Quart bottles and not in the Gallon bottle. You pay a Hazardous Shipping charge ($25.00?) on the gallon bottles, but not on the Quart bottles. You can buy as many Quart bottles as you want and not have to pay the Hazardous Shipping fee. Not sure about Tower as I have never ordered fuel from them.

I ordered two quarts of Sig Champion 25% and have been running my 049 engines on it and have no complaints. Not saying it is the best fuel, just saying it seems to work quite well for me. I will order more when I run out.

Yep, I've been using Sig 25% for years with no problems.rainyday101 wrote:I ordered two quarts of Sig Champion 25% and have been running my 049 engines on it and have no complaints. Not saying it is the best fuel, just saying it seems to work quite well for me. I will order more when I run out.
