Cox Super Power Fuel
Hello Cox engine enthusiasts!
I am the Product Manager responsible for the Cox Super Power Fuel along with all other model engine fuels under Hobbico brands.
I have been forwarded comments that some of you have sent to our Product Support Department and links to discussions on the forums regarding your concerns about the oil package in Cox Super Power Fuel. We appreciate your concerns and your feedback.
The Cox Super Power Fuel formula is the same as the previous (now discontinued) Hobbico 1/2A Fuel which we believe worked well for most users. However, we understand your concerns and we are willing to make changes to the formula that will meet your satisfaction.
I have discussed this with Bernie and he recommends a total oil package of 20% consisting of 10% synthetic and 10% castor. We will have sample quarts blended with this oil package, but we are looking for 2-3 beta testers to help confirm the performance of the new formula.
If you are interested in helping us test the new formula, please PM me with brief information about your experience with Cox engines, your location, etc. We will then pick 2-3 people to send fuel to for testing.
We appreciate your feedback and your assistance in making a better product.

Many thanks to you and your company for listening! It is good to see this type of effort from a company. It is much improvement over the desolate wasteland that some call "customer service".
If you do make the change to the more engine friendly formula, I would ask that you so mark the packaging on the new bottles. Even the worn out, "New and Improved" label would help.

That's excellent, you've got four smart guys testing it for you, including one of our forum moderators. Thanks so much for your attention to this. We appreciate your customer service, and hopefully a new source for our fuel.

Thank you for the time and consideration.
It would be welcome if the fuel breakdown is clearly marked on the label going forward. Please and Thank You.

Re: Cox Super Power Fuel
Thank You for this attention to your customers. I was a bit surprised by your post here, as most large companies seem to pretend special interest group forums don't exist, or blow off anything that's said on them. Good to see that Hobbico is listening to its customers. It's amazing how something like this, where a manufacturer listens to us end users, makes life-long customers. If this ends up like I think, I know that *I* will end up recommending Hobbico to other modellers I know. And I don't recommend that many places/manufacturers to other hobbyists.
I am and always have been a 1/2A guy, but back 20-25 years ago, the only trainer I used to recommend to beginners at the field where I flew in S. Carolina was the Hobbico SuperStar .40. I haven't had one in 20 years, as 1/2A is so much easier to cart around, but that'd still be my go-to trainer to get someone started. I'll be looking forward to a new Hobbico product to promote to other modellers.
The End User Mark

Did not want to post here before Dave from Hobbico did, in order not to undermine his post. Now that he has ...
Dave did call me yesterday and we had a great chat. He inquired about Beta testing new fuel mix and I recommended he post here because I knew some of you would jump at the opportunity
Thanks so much, Dave, for taking the time to listen to the Cox community and thanks also to the prospective beta testers. Once the new fuel is on the market, we shall include a link to Hobbico's relevant page in our fuel guide located here:

Re: Cox Super Power Fuel
I have to say thank you for joining the forum to hear what the Cox consumers wanted. This is customer service at its best. I'm sure the guys you have chosen for the tests are well equipped and know what they are doing. I agree with the others above that it would be nice if the contents were labeled somewhere on the bottle. I also agree that a "New and Improved", "Now With Added Castor", "Best For Small Engines" or similar sticker would be helpful to distinguish between the new formula and the previous formula. Our local hobby shop carries Hobbico products which includes the Cox Super Power Fuel and once the new formula hits the shelves, I'll be suggesting it.
Welcome to the forum! I hope you stick around. If you guys ever want opinions and suggestions on new Cox related products and small models, etc., feel free to post about them as I'm sure these guys will be more than happy to give you their two cents
Thank You, Jacob (Administrator)

HaHa! The Rusty seal of approval, I'm honored. And I'm not even on the test team. I would love to have volunteered but I wouldn't have been able to give it the attention it deserves.

Thank You Kruzn for responding to us. You won't get rich on my purchases, but I will buy fuel... and other stuff, from your company. If the experiment fails, I appreciate the effort.
Thank you,

Thanks Kruzn for addressing our concerns. I look forward to seeing the test results and I hope that us 1/2A / COX engine guys will have a new COX fuel that performs like the classic blend(s) did.

Re: Cox Super Power Fuel
My Hobby Shop in Cape ( https://www.facebook.com/tailwindsrc ) has a couple bottles of this on their shelf, and I've been thinking about picking them up and asking for them to hold off buying new stock 'till the new formula comes out.
They're good people and are working hard trying to make their shop a success.
How much castor should I sock to each bottle to get it close to 20%? I KNOW I ought to be able to figure this out, but someone please just help a dense redneck who routinely gets mentally massacred by numbers!

Re: Cox Super Power Fuel
Kim,
Each bottle contains already 18% of oïl. Of this 18%, 90% is synthetic oïl and 10 % is castor oïl. In order to get 20% oïl, you don't need to add much. However, if you want to have an oïl content of 50/50 synth-castor, you will have to add 136 ml of castor per bottle of 946 ml. This gives you the following percentages:
49,82% methanol
21,85% nitro
28,32% oïl of which 50% is castor.
