Thanks, Fred, you too. My father passed in 1995, retired in 1965 after serving in WW2 with Army Corps of Engineers (France), then era veteran during Korea and Vietnam (Air Force).fredvon4 wrote:George though were have yet to meet in person, I consider you a dear friend and much appreciate you adding these links. Videos are an easy do. The links you gave are perfect. Here is how:
1. Click on the YouTube button in the edit menu bar.
2. Paste the link in the URL blank, then click "Insert".
3. It will place the proper BB Code to display the video.
For example:
- Code:
Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1w8_fTIZZE
After clicking on the YouTube menu button and following instructions above, resulting BB Code is:
- Code:

Hi Fred, (fredom4)
Thanks for your music.
And for your Service. Not many appreciate it these days.
Un-political, as I can be...
We are all in the same boat.
On the shoulders of those, who died for us.
And those who have survived the nasty wars.
And who do not learn. Yet.
My Mum and Dad are mid 90s, I enjoy every day with them,
Kids, during the bombing of London, England.
The Harry Chapin, Cats in Cradle song, says it all...
With utmost Respect,
Dave

Hi All,
Found some music,
Lydia Ainsworth from Canada.
Not sure of her words,
Big Wingspan at the end.
She gets the .049 going at 1.15... And glides home. With thermals...

Hi All,
I have burned out more Cox engines,
Running them "close to the ground" and trying to put less than big chunks of gravel through them.
(fine dust and heat, is the problem)
Free Flight Cox cars on a big parking lot was awesome. Cement curbs won. Big time!
This song reminds me,

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
I watched the Tina Turna documentary last night and discovered, to my surprise, that she had recorded the Beetles song "HELP" in the same style as local performer John Farnham. The two versions are so similar that someone was obviously influenced by the other. I'll have to research to see who came first.
Ok, John Farnham's release was 1980 and Tina's was 1984. You gotta admit, it's a pretty nice take on an old Beetles song.

Hi All,
Got in a very nice evening flight.
Had this song in my head, I heard it on the radio.
"Dancing in the Dying Light" by Ameronte.
Googled it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7MCnLbTglYc
The video is way off,
Director was wrong,
Girls like Cox engines,
And they will prove it,
It is the future,
It will be fun,
Dave
P.S. They will shave our heads.
P.S.S. And make us start Cox engines...

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
Henry's finest. we learned it in high school.
By the shores of Gitchee Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
Stood the wigwam of Nokomis
Daughter of the Moon, Nokomis.
Dark behind it rose the forest,
Rose the black and gloomy pine trees,
Rose the firs with cones upon them;
Bright before it beat the water,
Beat the clear and sunny water,
Beat the shining Big-Sea-Water.
It goes on, and on, and on.
The Smithsonian channel aired "The Mystery of the Edmund Fitzgerald" a few years ago. Excellent. Probably still in their archives.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
Hi All,
Thanks for the various cool music here, much appreciated...
I have delved deep in Gordon Lightfoot songs lately, (I am Canadian)
Somehow, I found this:
I'll call it my,
Canned Heat 1/2A Fuel Story
1969, I was 11,
Man landed on the Moon,
And being part of the local Cox engine gang was cool, before we knew it.
One day,
The older kids (16-18 yr olds) took off.
We were left on our own.
We flew.
After some lousy weather, they came back.
Asked for some 'Canned Heat' fuel.
Much confusion. (Hobby Shop had no clue)
Still had fun flying together.
Many decades later,
I have figured it out.
They went to Woodstock.
And listened to this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRYKAMjKgto
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave
P.S. the Woodstock mud fest started after their set...

Hi rsv1cox,
Here, we very young punks,
Thought 'Canned Heat' was the next level of Cox Fuel !
Little did we know,
(little we learn)
Two of the ~18yr old model club members, 'went away'.
Decades later, I found out,
They died in Vietnam.
They were our heroes,
Before they left.
Still are.
When I hear: 'Going up the Country'
I think of them.
With Respect.
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Hi rsv1cox,
I like the last line,
"take away your number, give away your name.."
Most secret agents,
Are not on-line
Hard to meet people,
Who do not exist.
Nudge, nudge/Wink
Say less, no more,
Codish, ahhlfafucinicantspellanything
Ask for the gorgeos secratary, (speeling is impotant)
I'll be 2 blocks away,
Fish or chicken for lunch ?
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
We lost another Aussie music legend a week or so back. Broderick Smith, songer songwriter for the Dingoes from the '70s. They had some minor success in the USA but unfortunately all that fell apart following the Lynyrd Skynyard plane crash as they were sharing a promotor and supporting Lynyrd Skynyrd on tour at the time.
Broderick continued to make music up until his death from "natural causes" at 75.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
I'm sure you'll all know this song, but I'd bet none of you have listened to this version. This was at a memorial concert for Andrew Durant, guitarist and songwriter for the Aussie band "Stars". Andy died from cancer at the age of 25 in 1980. They put together a massive memorial concert with all funds going to cancer research.
Do yourself a favour and listen right through. There are some Aussie megastars who most of you probably don't know existed. Sadly, a number who performed at this concert are also no nonger with us, notably Broderick Smith and Renee Geyer. Renee's vocal harmonies with Jimmy Barnes (6:18) are just incredible.

It's sad the number of celebrities that we have lost in the past few weeks, and they just admitted Jimmy Buffett into a hospital in Boston. I hope that he finds his Lost Shaker of Salt and is released soon.
