-Hi guys,
On another thread we are talking music (and booze).
And I thought it would be a good idea to dedicate a thread to this fabulous thing the music that is not the booze. So post song you like favourite band or what ever. You shall bit be judged.
Please feel free to post what ever music you like here and if I deem it too rude I will move it to the redneck zone.
I for one like all types of music from the Clash to the glitch mob and everywhere in between.
Let's see what you guys like

-It will take me forever to list everything I listen to. I will listen to everything from Polka (yeah...I said polka), country/western, soul, pop/rock, classic rock and so on. It really depends on what it is when it comes to Classical and Rap/Hip Hop.

I don't recall them coming to the St.Paul-Minneapolis area for the Scorpions farewell tour. I would have gone!



My working and "safe" 8-tracks. These are ones that have the foil sensing splice replaced and the pressure pad if needed. They are not for quality perfect sounding music, they are mostly a novelty now. The 2 Eagles 8 tracks that I took a pic of in the other topic should be on that shelf instead of the Neal Diamond and the Tanya Tucker 8-tracks, I just shoved them on there to fill in the space. I have A LOT more in boxes that don't have the maintenance done to them. Unmaintained ones will usually fall apart after 1-5 plays and sometimes they sound really bad because the foam pressure pads have disintegrated. I also have a few where the rubber rollers have begun to disintegrate into a very sticky melted rubber that will wreak the tape and mess up your player if you try to play them! Some, not all of my classic rock lps. I'm going to have to move these to another shelf soon, self is almost as full as it can get!


Other music and country on top. on the right is a old mid 40s metal Wards Airline tube radio, a Jaws movie soundtrack on 8-track, a picture cube and a mold-able plastic lion from Como Zoo in St.Paul.

For my cassettes, I keep them in carrying cases. I really don't have many prerecorded cassettes, mostly ones I have recorded myself from falling apart 8-tracks, the computer, CDs and records.

I have most of the CDs outside in my cabin/garden shed where I have a large enough stereo to fill the backyard and surrounding backyards with music!



My grandparents won this from a radio station! They were listening to the radio at home when the DJ asked a trivia question about the movie, luckly they just saw the move earlier that evening so they knew the answer! I have the movie on VHS, if you haven't seen it, you would probably (maybe) like it.

Its one of my favorite movies. RIP Jerry Reed (Snowman) and Jackie Gleason (Sheriff Buford T Justic, Smokey). Jerry Reed actually didn't have bad music. He wrote much of the music in smokey and the bandit such as East bound and down and west bound and down. He also has his Amos Moses song that is a classic. Burt Reynolds (Bandit) is still hanging in there and still acting. The most previous thing I can think of is him playing ”Chubby” in My Name is Earl. I know he has done other things more recently then that though. I need to convert that soundtrack to a mp3, I have only converted East bound and down and West bound and down from it so far..

That was her last really big hit, her best movie I think was Norma Rae..

Taste in ANYTHING (music, movies, art, poetry, food etc) is a highly individualized domain often reflecting the values and stage of life of the observer. As I mentioed earlier, my tastes are ecelectic and can drift from one to another at random. I very often have classics from Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, Strauss and others playing on CD's here as I write in my den. Food choices can "drift" to from Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Japanese at an opportunities notice.

In essence these choices are what make life interesting as are the activities that I enjoy. Certainly I have preferences but am willing to occasionally go beyond them to discover new things as we do when we travel.

Our recent trip to Nashville, Tennessee is illustrative as it once again piqued my interest in Country/Western. Having my picture taken standing on the stage of the Ryman while holding a guitar and one sitting on the bench with a bronzes of Roy Acuff and Minnie Pearl was a poignant reminder of their roles in C/W music. I shall treasure those picuture forever.

So, now in my mid-70's, my tastes have been forged by the life that we have lived. My wife and I live in comfortable retirement anticipating and planning the future to come God willing. All the possible by good fortune, good choices and God's blessing.

Merry Christmas! Remember the "reason for the season"..
