Re: Recent engine acquisitions
The Queen Bee with a Valentine Turbo Plug adapter is far from stock.
The stock QB makes no way near that power. Did you remove the intake screen as well?
Cox 6x3 / 16.7k is more typical
Checked again with another digi scale, 10g for me a functioning weight. 14g that casted
muffler on the TT extra weight is to be expected. Lower noise is too.

I don't know where that comes from?
In engine tests it also does 17500-18000rpm on a 6x3 prop; http://sceptreflight.com/Model%20Engine%20Tests/Cox%20074%20Queen%20Bee.html

Re: Recent engine acquisitions
Why would you look at the too rich setting? Are you not listing your top rpms for an engine?
Just set it even richer and it will be even lower on power...?

The TT GP-07 clearly produces much more power than the Cox QB per vid.
Perhaps with the stock Queen Bee head, I've never liked those adaptors, the TD/Medallion .09 ones are a direct drop-in though. Here are some of my numbers on these engines;
Stock TT 07GP, 10% Nitro, Graupner 6x3 prop;
17500rpm / 18.69oz thrust / 0.150HP / 110W
Queen Bee (.09 Turbo head), 10% Nitro, Graupner 6x3 prop;
17900rpm / 19.75oz / 0.160HP / 117W
The picture means we are beating a dead horse to death a saying for when things have been
discussed to it's limitations. Here is my results with a Cox 6x3:
No turbo head from Valentine like on your QB just a OS Gold plug for bling.
I bare in mine the stock QB makes 16.7k "average" with the 6x3 prop:
Static: 16.2 oz thrust / .13hp / 97w / 47 mph
I have owned 4 QB engines over the years, first in the early 1990's flying and 2 ran in
a outrigger hydro boat. The 4th one now has only been bench tested, its a collector engine
more so for me to recall my memories with it.

Thunder Tiger GP-07 / Cox 6x3
Best peak: 18,572 RPM .179hp / 134w / 21oz thrust / 53 mph static
Average 18,330 rpm / 20.5oz thrust / .172hp / 128.3w / 52 mph
25% nitro / 20% castor
I had mentioned wanting to test the APC 6x4:
Norvel .074 / APC 6x4 Static Results:
Modified Heli Muff / 19,147 /.262hp / 196w / 22oz thrust / 73 mph
Stock Muff / 17,603 / .203 hp / 151.4w / 19oz thrust / 67 mph
TT GP -07 /17,440 / 148w / .198hp / 18oz thrust / 66mph

TT GP -07 /17,440 / 148w / .198hp / 18oz thrust / 66mph
25% nitro / 20% castor / O.S. limited addition #8 Gold plug.
Apparent 160 deg timing can certainly function with a tuned pipe.
I have a TT GP-.10 it has the same timing.
Needs a muffler mod to get more from it but this is not bad
for sport flying with good thrust / should unload well. Agian
noise level is great could be flown in the front yard.

Re: Recent engine acquisitions
Hello friend, I value very much all that information that you contribute here in the forum, because I do not have access to those accessories, but surely many cooterraneos of yours are very useful. Your work of experiences, they will make a path!
P.S. I'm still waiting ... (here it is like this)

A Youtube video first: CS .061 RC and Profi tuned pipe
AmpAbuser / AKA 1/2A Nut
Published on Nov 24, 2017
CS .061 / Nelson Plug Med. / Profi .8cc Tuned Pipe / APC 4.5x4
Best Peak 25,193 rpm / .188hp / 140.3w / 12oz thrust / 96 mph
Hold peak 25,052 rpm / 25% nitro / 20% oil blend
8.75" Mean Reflective Point / "center of piston to 2" from end of stinger.
3.75 turns out due to no pressure taps. /105.7g as shown with pipe
With pressure tap should get at least another 400 rpm. All in all not bad
for old school CS engine from back in the day. Given the mass of the
spinner and prop type it was making good power. A low weight spinner nut
and carbon prop would have yielded better numbers. To be fare it is not
optimized yet. However a rare (only) vid of a CS .061 RC in action with a tuned pipe.
Did come with a red anodized head I swapped heads from my CL version
as it had a nelson plug.

Mmmmm... Shiny
How did you get the anodizing off the aluminum carb body? Chemical or elbow grease?

Re: Recent engine acquisitions
Lol thanks guys it's bad arse, I always wondered what an all aluminum TD would look like!
I think it cools better having all bare aluminum max direct skin contact to moving air.
Fred is correct I had a rare chance on buying a non anodized carb body off ebay.
I have removed anodizing it can be done with a few grades of sand paper followed
by a good polishing with cycles of rouge grades. This one was completely torn down
to polish each aluminum part. Note the TD thrust plate {normally gold in color) came
from a Medallion engine.

That engine looks beautiful Brad! And carburetor is also very good.
Here in my country someone used to make the aluminum alloy carter many years ago, it is not manufactured anymore, here I have some photos.

Thanks Brad, if you approve it, it means it's good!
These bodies were a copy of the original, that is, they made the matrix with the original plastic body, it came a bit rough, but I decided to polish it and it looks very nice.
This work I did to a friend, the engine is not mine.
Sorry for the bad quality of the photos, they are taken with my old cell phone!

Re: Recent engine acquisitions
I was thinking that if you had to add a spring for the start, it would not be a problem for the anodized!
