AMA membership
As some of you know; I renewed my membership recently, after a 20+ year lapse. I'm covered until 4/30/18.. (verified through a follow-up # check I did today) Unfortunately I failed to jot-down my user-name and can't login. I'll sort that out.. but wanted to know if they still mail-out some membership materials? I know it's only been since 4/8 that I renewed.. and probably won't receive anything for a while yet.
This is all I can find from my 1993-95 membership.
I'm sure that there must have been a membership-card to keep in my wallet.. or something. I only remember getting one of those embroidered-patches shown in the photo.. and don't know which year it was from though.
At this point.. if I wanted to fly right now, I only have my AMA# as proof. Maybe I need to print-out my license now??
Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Re: AMA membership
I just renewed aging this week. Your post here motivated me. Thank you!! The last several years all I have gotten has been my card and the magazine, not even any stickers for the field box. I just rejoined my club, too. They require proof of AMA membership. Since it takes so long to get the card they allowed me to send in the email from the AMA acknowledging that I just renewed, kind of a receipt.

Thanks (and you're welcome..) Bob! Yea.. I've got to get something that I can at least print-out for now.
Re: AMA membership
I've been my club's secretary it seems forever. The secretary will usually get a list of club members, their AMA number and expiration date. If not, in the AMA site members area, you can check on members by entering their last name and AMA number -- it will give their membership status and expiration date.
When we were running flyin's, we kept a laptop at the signin table and could check current status, provided a person knew their numbers.

Re: AMA membership
ON the ama site it's hard to do but you can check YOUR OWN number... club secretary's have a log in that lets them poke in name or number to get current info....no other members can do this search not even the club president...only ONE club member can ever have this capability
As far as I remember joining OR re-newing always eventually got a snail mail card and decal at least that's how it works for me with AMA decals for each year...except......!!!
On my last re up that was for two years I did not get ANY decals......did get card in the mail....Hummm.... cost savings? mistake? none sent becaus they did not have the one for the second year? dunno....don't really care so did not call
But I do know this....the membership lady is nice and on the phone will tell you the real deal
Give them a phone call and ask to talk to membership
About 7 years ago I talked to her with a list of 8 members who wanted some older membership decals and she found about 60% of the requests and sent me a free envelope with 23 decals from the early 2000s for my guys
Bottom line is the working folks at AMA are super nice and do us right...the leadership... Not so much IMO...but that is another rant for a different day and I prefer to do that on other sites...CEF it too friendly to start that debate so please keep this about being AMA and having fun

Re: AMA membership
You can easily check a member-status without being logged into their site. All you need is an AMA# and last name. The members & clubs tab needs to be clicked (not hovered) where a second menu is displayed. "Membership Verification" is a tab in that second menu. Clicking it opens a page with a search-engine having those two fields. Enter the info and click the "verify" button.
Although I was asked and provided my email address, I received no acknowledgement of renewal. Had I been connected to a printer, I could have printed-out the acknowledgement from the site.
IMO.. $75 should get you some stickers at least.. I mean really..?

Re: AMA membership
I renewed the first week of January. I wondered why it was taking so long, but in a few weeks, my card came with an AMA decal. It'll come.

Re: AMA membership
I renewed a year and a half ago for 2 years, when they offered that I could pay the old rate that was lower. I'll pay the higher rate near 2017 end.
Regarding politics and people, (redacted), but AMA is the best thing we have for now and worth supporting, IMO.

Recent development...
My Brother texted me this morning to tell me that he'd received my AMA membership card in his snail- mailbox. I did live at that address in 1995.. (the last year of three-consecutive membership years..) When I renewed a few weeks ago (via the web..) I furnished my current mailing address and current email address.
Don't read any further.. unless you enjoy drama..
When I joined the AMA initially in 1993, it was by snail-mail. I renewed for 1994 the same way.. and once more in 1995.. but later that year; went through a marriage-separation.. and subsequent forwarding-address to; "you guessed it".. my brother's address.
I should be glad that my brother still lives there.. and received my current membership card.. but I can't understand why it was mailed to his address. Somewhere between my rejoining 22 years later via the web this time.. the AMA sent it to a previous address.
I have had no (zero..) email confirmation of my current membership.. although it was a "field" on the form, which I filled-out.
My current AMA "web-account".. (which I needed to change my "user-name" to access..) doesn't give any information about a mailing address..
This concerns me. The only thing that I can imagine.. is that my original AMA account and my new AMA "web-account" are not linked to an address-change.. even though I gave them the new information. The transaction was processed.. based on my being a real person right now.. living somewhere else.
I "think" that I've straightened-out the access to my web-account... so I guess I'll need to contact an administrator, in order to receive (by snail-mail or email..) any updates, news.. etc. regarding my membership.
Did "I" mess-up somehow? I followed all the directions to rejoin.. and my previous AMA# was recognized.. and reinstated.
