Re: Recent engine acquisitions
Well, it is not an engine, but I like to share this acquisition with you ... recently a friend called me and told me that he was selling his PT-19 ... many years ago I do not do U / C, but I could not recite, so I lowered his thumb ...
My friend had bought this model again, and I only flew it 6 times, the truth has no details and I am happy to have it now as another treasure.
I started with a general cleaning ... no friends, it's not a problem, just that I exceeded in this product hahaha ..

Re: Recent engine acquisitions
Mauricio.
The plane looks almost like brand new. You have done a great job cleaning it.
I think you should fly it. It has been flown before so the value is not so high as one which has not been flown. Also, it is a later model one so is not so old and will not be brittle. The PT-19 is apparently very strong and not easily damaged so fly it and enjoy it.

Nice job cleaning it up! The spray is meant for textiles and carpets, correct?
I have a P-40 that I'll need to fix and clean up someday, I'll have to remember the textile foam as a possible cleaning aid.

Hello Rod !, thank you, if it was good ... the model has very little use and has been well treated, so I'm lucky to have a model as if it were new.
It's true! I should fly it, I'll take it to the club one day and I'll do some flight, if I do that, I promise a video! I'm sure I'll be very dizzy hahaha, for lack of habit and some years I have already!

Hello Kari !, yes it is a spray with liquid to clean carpets and upholstery, the foam does not drip and act in the place applied, you leave it for about five minutes and you start with a brush for the inaccessible parts and with a rag on the rest of the surface. You will notice a very good result, taking even shine all the material, improving its appearance in 100%!
It will be very nice to put pictures of your P-40 !, I like these models a lot, a big hug friend!

Re: Recent engine acquisitions
This arrived today, a nice little trio of .15 engines and a new .049TD tank plus a GlowBee head-clamp and plug.
The Conquest has never seen fuel, the Medallion might have (hard to tell) while the TD has been fired-up but not run much (it has a really nice pinch/bite at TDC and cannot be turned over without a glow-head mounted).
I would like to think that I've scored, but the mrs might not agree...
(The conquest was the most expensive in the lot at around $80.)

Nice looking engines Kris. Congratulations! Do you have any .15 size airplane plans that you're considering?

Re: Recent engine acquisitions
Hi Mauricio! I saw the photo-insert of "young-Kim" on the PT19's box!.. I admire your skills with digital-imaging!!! Congratulations on your PT19! You did a wonderful job cleaning it up!
I notice something odd. The fin/rudder color is yellow... Usually this part is the same color as the fuselage.. but maybe there were exceptions?
Rusty's PT19 also has a yellow rudder..
......
Mine has the blue rudder.. and is a approximate 1987 vintage..
:lol:bullet-holes.. and an engine-fire! Those poor dudes were toast... I ordered a replacement fuselage.
The pilot and navigator were too afraid to fly again..
I made "piano-wire" (small-diameter .015"/.38mm) lead-out/line-connectors, so I can switch my control-lines and handle for a different airplane to fly.
I plan to remove the solid wires.. and replace them with extra-long braided "fishing-line".. lead-outs. If the wing separates from the fuselage because of a crash; there is "stress" on the bell-crank from the lead-outs.. which are still connected. It's less of an issue when tying the control-lines directly to the bell-crank as Cox suggests.
I REALLY hope that you fly this airplane Mauricio! I'll tell you why....... I love your videos!!! and I'm sure that you would have video of the first flight! Please share that with us!

Thank you friend Eric !, if I like how this carpet cleaning element has left it, it also gave it a shine !.
Yes I will see if one of these days I decide and I fly ... I will surely end up lying on the floor hahaha!

Friend, it would be great, but I will leave it original, because the alar load would go very high in proportion ... will have to do some wood ?, Who knows!
Hug for you dear friend!

Congratulations Kris !, let's say the .15 Conquest has a Perry carburetor, was it an R / C version?

Roddie!, it is interesting the information you provide, just to avoid some extra damage, the cable that runs through the wing must be braided I guess.
Regarding the length of lines, the manual says: 25 feet, is equal to 7.6 meters, I remember when I was a child flying a wooden model with a Cox motor with 9 meters of cable length that is equal to 29.52 feet, That was to not get sick! (avoid strong dizziness) ... what will be the maximum size that this model admits ??, in case of being able to lengthen the cables I would avoid turning fast and getting dizzy less !!
Thanks for evaluating my videos Roddie, I promise that if I fly this jewel (the PT-19), I'll make a video, even if it's hard for me to get up from the floor after the dizziness! LOL

I might have to many projects going on at the same time I guess, but the Conquest I got because I really like these engines. I have few from before and this one will be a nice backup if I ever break some of the others. These engines are simply the best .15 engines that I have, they throttle well and are much stronger than the typical sports engines like the ASP .15XLS. While the ASP will spin a 8x4 prop at around 15000rpm, the Conquest will spin the same prop at around 16600rpm on the stock muffler.
The .15 medallion is another story, I was more looking for some parts for a .15 Medallion that I already have, but as it turns out this one is much better than my old one. So I'm not sure what to do now. I guess I will run my old one a bit more and save this one for future projects.
The .15TD I put a low bid on because I don't have any of them before, and lucked out that no one bid higher. I don't know if I can use it on our field as is though, might have to make some type of muffler for it.
Below is my standard testing setup for .10-.15 engines, it is quite nice to run engines in the same plane, it gives you a direct feel for each engine and the good ones can move on to something better.

Yes, this is the RC version that Cox made. It has a Perry style carb and a regular glow plug, everything on this one is stock.
The CL version came with a spinner and a glow-head. I haven't done any direct comparisons in terms of power but the RC version is plenty strong as it is.
