I'd love to try my hand at this event but there's no way I can afford to try and buy one of these . Would it be okay if I were to scratch build one .... say a profile fuselage with a Black Widow or maybe a Tee Dee ?? How say y'all ?? Yes ?? No ??

If i didn't hurt so bad from mowing last 2 days i would feel sorry for you >> Get um Ready !!Yup, Getting ready to get ready. Smile I figure if I talk about it enough here it will force me to actually follow through. Easy for most of you, challenging for spatially disoriented me. Sad wrote:

Hey Jim, I'll 2nd Kim's reply; in that "Eric" (member name getback) "scratch-built" a PT19 which he has flown. Maybe Eric would be willing to shoot-you a set of plans that he worked from..??
I would surmise; that as long as the model resembles a Ryan PT19.. and is powered by a Cox engine... it would meet the criteria for the event..

Hey guys ! Just curious, I've been wondering which would be most appropriate. I've been working on my scratch built PT-19 for the upcoming International . While I know what others have done, should I put the build on this thread or should I start a separate thread ? Either will be acceptable by me but I was wondering what some of y'alls thoughts would be .... incorporate or separate ??

My vote would be to start your own thread with a catchy relevant title. Otherwise it will get lost in here.

That's up to Kim , he's the main man here as he started this craziness If I can get enough thrust from a wind burst I may not even need a engine Still would like to mow my field again but may not happen , in prep for the rain storm !! I still need to run the engine / prob. after cleaning and inspection so when out there it will happen up down round and roundmodelbuilder49 wrote:Hey guys! Thanks Joe !! Hea Hi !!
HEY!!! I thought YOU started this particular branch of craziness!!!!
From my stand point as an enthusiastic participant, I'd say OF COURSE..."International Cox PT-19 Fly-It-If-You-Got-It-When-You-Can-Fly-It" !!!!
I sort of saw us setting a specific date as a way to get us old frogs off the log and get the PT's flying.
So my vote is: Survive First, then crank up your PT or PT'ish circle turner, and post the good stuff here!!!
P.S.----Just backtracked to batjac and saw HE was the culprit behind all this !!!!

Re: The Official "International Cox PT-19 Fly It If You Got It Day!" Thread
Just another crappy day here in WV, I think it's been raining since March. So what, Mark and I decided to get something in the air today despite the rain and the confines of my back yard.. Not a qualifier for PT-19 day, but we had fun anyway.
With Florence moving up the Ohio Valley this weekend I thought it best to get an early start. Field is soggy, no way to lay down a card board runway there so I used 20' lines on the "F-15" and took it off my driveway. First try was a stumble as it didn't get airborne before hitting the grass. Second attempt moving it back for more runway gained some altitude before losing lift and hitting the ground.
Successful flight Mark yelled as he was recording my failed attempts. So I became pit-man and leaned out to max RPM he managed to whip it into the air carrying about an oz of moisture with it. Unorthodox style, but he managed to keep it up for over a minute until it ran out of fuel and Mark ran out of inner ear balance control.
Didn't want to risk the PT-19 on 20' lines so will wait for the field to dry and do it later on 35 footers.

Yeah, Titusville, just across the State from my old home in Spring hill. Spent the better part of my life down there. Love Florida.

Wether to fly in this weather
YIKES! Last year it was sweltering hot. This year is “just right”. Except one little thing, well, a billion of little things: Mosquitoes!! Our weather has been a perfect breeding ground for a massive hatching of these little buggers, this evening the bats were out gorging themselves on the swarms, Yup, like the graph shows I’m in the “Eaten Alive” area.

There's still Sunday. My lazy self never fixed the elevator's half-barrel hinge bearing where it broke out of the vertical stab. I could do it pretty quickly if I just did it. I have a Tee Dee ready to bolt on and that's all it needs. Mmmmmaybe... maybe I'll get it done if it's not raining and windy. I'll have to use my old brick and zip-tie stooge for a rolling launch.

Got beautiful weather here in Missouri, but I manged to get sick, and am invoking the "International Cox PT-19 Fly-It-If-You-got-It" sickness clause if agreeable with my esteemed colleagues.
I shall attempt flights at the first opportunity!
