Great. Nice to see you make the effort and come home with everything on the plane still where it should be. That's gotta mean it was a good day, right?

Well, it's getting to be that time, again, as mid-2018 rolls by.
Ring, Ring, Everybody.
I hope this post finds everybody well, and getting much flying time.
Last post here was way back in 2017, and here we are at 5th of Aug 2018, already.
May I put forward a suggested 2018 International Cox PT-19 Fly It If You Got It Day (well, 3 days) for Fri-Sat-Sun 14, 15, 16 of Sept 2018?
That will hopefully give us slow pokes enough time to rustle the planes back together again and be ready for the Big Weekend.
Chime in with preferences, etc...

Hey, looks great to me. I collected a couple partial PT-19's that I will have to fab pieces for.
I have to dust off my memory and I know I downloaded the plans for that balsa PT-19, somewhere.
It's all about fending off excuses, distractions, and diversions to actually go out and fly the things...(!)...

Maybe I'll do it this year. I've actually begun retro-fitting my PT with a Tee Dee and one of the Red plastic TD tanks. Or I may opt for a Medallion instead. It looks to be an easy conversion.

Ok, I'm in. Dusted off the PT-19 and my pit crew should be available those dates.
I might first fly the very expendable and virtually indestructible F-15 with the flying tail. Interesting how they built stops into the elevator throw on these. Less chance for me to get into trouble.
PS: Pit crew only necessary to pick me up when I fall down.

Yep, I've needed a crew for that a couple times!

[quote="TLAnderson"]Mine has been ready to go for a while. Hope it doesn't look like this on "Fly it if you got it" day.
Maybe a bit rough(weather impact-wise), but what a cool video you'd have !!! Ski caps and earmuffs on the pilots !!!

Re: The Official "International Cox PT-19 Fly It If You Got It Day!" Thread
My "later-model" (1987) PT-19 has needed help in the "fuel-delivery" area. Its external "snap-on" plastic bowl of 8-10cc's (?) just wouldn't stay snapped-on anymore.. I'm going to attempt to address this issue again..
This airplane has undergone many modifications.. but has always "delivered" on the FUN. A testament to Cox engineering.
I had to replace the "fuselage".. after flying the snot out of it for the first few years. Then.. its main-gear was replaced.. and "Sig" 1/2-A wheels substituted.
Now... I feel compelled to get it flight-ready for this year's event..
My model had been previously fitted with .015" solid-wire lead-outs many years ago, for the ease of "changing lines" between model-flights.. (I had only one handle at the time.. ) Originally designed to have Dacron thread tied-off directly to its bell-crank and out-through the wings' lead-out guides, made reassembly following wing-separation after a crash an easy operation.. and it "was". Your Cox PT-19 Flight-Trainer could be flown repeatedly... unless a "catastrophic" crash occurred.
Fast-forward 31 years; I feel the need to give "my" airplane an upgrade.
1st on the agenda was replacing the stock plastic (2.5") bell-crank with a custom/homemade unit of 1.5"...
This was an effort to provide clearance behind the firewall for a larger fuel-tank. I had made some custom "CNC" bell-cranks from .040" aluminum.. with bearings made from acrylic, in small, medium and large sizes. The "medium" size (1.5") worked-out perfectly for this application. The Sullivan #435 (1oz.) RC clunk-tank seems to fit perfectly inside the fuse. It's a bit "overkill".. but it just might work..
Check it out..
lots of room for the Sullivan #435 1oz. tank. If you're really ambitious like "Rusty".. and looking to mount a "Tee Dee" in the nose.. this tank will feed it.

Re: The Official "International Cox PT-19 Fly It If You Got It Day!" Thread
Yes, thanks Mark! My version is the one just prior to the "Sure-Start" engine variant.. and has the translucent-white external tank-bowl that won't stay snapped in place. Interesting note about how that fuel-bowl starves the engine in "nose-up" attitudes. All the better that I'm attempting to install a different tank set-up I guess..
Re: The Official "International Cox PT-19 Fly It If You Got It Day!" Thread
Hey guys ! I'd love to try my hand at this event but there's no way I can afford to try and buy one of these . Would it be okay if I were to scratch build one .... say a profile fuselage with a Black Widow or maybe a Tee Dee ?? How say y'all ?? Yes ?? No ??

It's getting pretty bad when I have to correct my own posts. I depend upon you guys doing that.
Elevator not! Stablator Yes.
Getting ready to get ready. Mowed half the field, gives enough take-off room yet leaves flora soft spots for the inevitable crash.
Mark B's suggestion of years ago to buy some liquid plastic cement came in handy to glue down those fly-away decals on the F-15.
Had to use red tube glue to fasten down the loose snap-on tail section on the PT-19. Reversible if necessary.
Yup, Getting ready to get ready. I figure if I talk about it enough here it will force me to actually follow through. Easy for most of you, challenging for spatially disoriented me.
