Re: PT -19 Friending
cool deal! lol, looks like you can build one of those "ultra rare" all blue and/or all yellow PT-19s!
Re: PT -19 Friending
Wow Eric, It's nice to have friends.
Everything in that box is wonderful, especially that Cox Airacobra.
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy but I worry about you and Rusty with Florence approaching. PT-19 weekend may not be so nice.

I'm confused by the Cosmic Wind. Says Testors on the fin but looks like a Cox engine.
Nice collection. Lucky you have cheaper shipping than to me.

So which is it, Cox or Testors? Sticker on the fin sure looks like Testors to me, but it is blurry. Testors did make a bigger version but both Testors and Cox made near-identical small versions.

Re: PT -19 Friending
Nice P-51 there. I got one of those a couple years ago from someone up here, and a needle from a fellow member on here for it. However, teh silver was mostly missing so the guy I got it from painted it blue, which was also peeling, so I used a bunch of brake cleaner and soaked it and used a toothbrush to scrub it down. I got 95% off, so now I just have a yellow-ish model. I will again look into painting it, properly.... The cracked canopy doesn't bother me, so I will just leave it as it is.

Re: PT -19 Friending
The brake cleaner did a good job of removing the paint. Now, it does look a little odd molded in bright yellow, unless you were to make it into a pylon racer. Yes, painted silver will make it look more respectable. I don't remember too much on those aircraft. I think that it wasn't a true chrome but a factory painted silver (to keep costs down).NEW222 wrote:I got one of those a couple years ago from someone up here, and a needle from a fellow member on here for it. You might be able to clean up the slightly fogged canopy with this:

Re: PT -19 Friending
That Testors Cosmic Wind is one hell of a prison work shop job. Cox Bee front end with a metal pipe bomb reedie intake assembly shoved up its ass.
