Which would you buy? Bernie's or this one? Hmm let me think................Fragile piston, broken lug, used collectors item all for a $99 starting bid. Or Bernie's for 74.95! with none of those problems.

Hope the seller does well, bad timing I'd say just as Bernie list's his Venom II's although it may go cheaper........... Huh...

Well it depends. Are you planning to fly it or are you building an Original Cox Chronological collection?

99% of humans that would buy a venom would have no intention of ever running it. Sure run it to play and test but not real flight. They are all museum pieces. That's why the venom will always fetch a premium price. It is a collectors item. There are only 1000.

The seller of http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-COX-1996-VENOM-049-COMBAT-ENGINE-ONLY-1-000-WERE-PRODUCED-/220985124930?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3373bd6842 Will probably not even get $100. It even looks fake Any comments? Pinkish hue to crankcase. Strange back plate with broken ear 15 feedback none of which scream out BUY ME I'M A REAL VENOM!

Bernie sells neat little engines that are INEXPENSIVE enough to fly competitively. If you crash it, suicide won't be your first thought.

~Source http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/cox_venom.htm
The Venom was the last and finest high performance engine development of the Bee type engines. It had been designed by Larry Renger for control line Mouse Racing events and featured some interesting details. Most of these features were based on modifications developed for Cox engines by Paul Gibeault.

The Venom has been manufactured in a run of 1000 engines only, which is unusually small for a Cox engine.

Another thing, it is not a venom. Bernie sells a similar product called "Venom II."

I think the name Venom 2 electric boogaloo would have been a cooler name.

Yeah, that "Venom" looks like the crankcase was colored with a red sharpie and also it has a hex driveplate... I bet this is a Black Widow that someone swapped the crankcase with one colored not by anodizing.

I would go for the new one offered by Bernie. I made a clone of Venom/Killer Bee with true TD p/l sets. Just recieved a good TD .051 and will make a .051 K/Bee also. Buyer beware of ebay. Some are honest, other not. Then some are just guessing at best.

Okay I have been messaging the lister.
Here are what I got.
"Jon, my husband bought that Venom new in-the-box at a hobby shop in Northern California in 1996 as he always sought and bought the newest engines. If you are referring to the hex plate that has been in question - that is how it came and also included was the spring starter, which were, by the way, used on some Venoms. We believe that this engine may have been one of the last on the production line and the hex plate was used after the round plate stock was exhausted. COX had been known to swap parts to meet production runs. I am looking into this further but rest assured I am NOT trying to deceive anyone or mislist the facts about this engine. "
And then
"Dear jomakes,

Hi Jon, you are welcome to post my responses and also I would welcome any information that comes your way through the various forum sites ... I have tried to research this myself (even on the cox forum site) but found limited information. Please let me know what you hear or find out! Thanks, again. Lori
P.S. I am not an enthusiast but just somehow got enlisted to help my husband sell his 30-year hobby... so I am just the messenger - pls. don't shoot me lol Smile

From the new pictures the guy posted, the crankcase does now look to be anodized but that hex driveplate is not okay. Maybe someone swapped the driveplate because they wanted to use a snap starter or something but that is uncommon. If you are interested, see if they will show a pic of the crank and tell you what # cylinder it has.

Verbal Context and Content

• A liar will use your words to make answer a question. When asked, “Did you eat the last cookie?” The liar answers, “No, I did not eat the last cookie.”

•A statement with a contraction is more likely to be truthful: “ I didn't do it” instead of “I did not do it” "new in-the-box, that is how it came,I am looking, I am NOT

• Liars sometimes avoid "lying" by not making direct statements. They imply answers instead of denying something directly.

• The guilty person may speak more than natural, adding unnecessary details to convince you... they are not comfortable with silence or pauses in the conversation.

• A liar may leave out pronouns and speak in a monotonous tone. When a truthful statement is made the pronoun is emphasized as much or more than the rest of the words in a statement. This is especially true

• Words may be garbled and spoken softly, and syntax and grammar may be off. In other
words, his sentences will likely be muddled rather than emphasized.

• The use of distancing language. out to wikipedia

Also see our article on Statement Analysis for a more in-depth look at word analysis techniques used by interrogators.

The Dialogue is too strange.
She sounds like robot lady, then she becomes an expert in cox production line parts and left over parts. She gives too much info she doesn't give enough info. Her grammar is questionable at best.

"I am not an enthusiast but just somehow got enlisted to help my husband sell his 30-year hobby"

WRONG, WRONG WRONG WRONG. I don`t trust her/him at all.

The guilty person may speak more than natural, adding unnecessary details to convince you... they are not comfortable with silence or pauses in the conversation.

Especially this statement "Jon, my husband bought that Venom new in-the-box at a hobby shop in Northern California in 1996 as he always sought and bought the newest engines."

I can almost imagine her saying "Jon, my husband 5"10 196lb social security 342-44-2421 bought that Venom new in-the-box at a hobby shop in Northern California in 1996 12:43pm PST as he always sought and bought the newest engines."

Well we know that Cox did run out of bits from time to time
and stuck whatever was at hand at the time on their products.
No doubt had the NFFS order been 30000 and therefore worth
The Company's effort there would be lots of NFFS 051's with
whatever was available to finish them off as well.
I notice that there is still no Reference Library section on the forum
so you'll all be having these same discussions a year, 5 years, 50
years from now.

Tom mentioned last week that there only seemed 3 members
bothered about such things but lo and behold here we are .
More than the 'gangof3' pontificating the fat.

Just because someone does not use contractions does not make them a liar. I try to never use contractions. Occasionally a sentence does not sound correct without them.

Commander Data doesn't use contractions and he always tell the truth, unless ordered not to by Captain Picard.

I'm not saying she is a scammer just that everything about the whole situation is WEIRD. Also, for most people $125 is a lot to loose when they cold have bought a Bernie's v 2 for less and been a guaranteed runner. I just hate to see bs like the hex drive plate when cox had Bazillions of those at all times.

~source "http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Data"

In "Where No One Has Gone Before", he says "it's off the scale" when referring to the ship's velocity and "we're here..." as an explanation as to why the Enterprise should stay and study the galaxy M33.
In "Manhunt", when Captain Picard summons Data to Lwaxana Troi's boudoir, to help him escape from an awkward situation, Data replies: "I'm on my way".
At the end of "Datalore" he tells Wesley Crusher that "I'm fine", and in "We'll Always Have Paris" makes the remark that, "It's me".
During the teaser of "The Naked Now", he uses contractions several times, including "What we've just heard is impossible" and "I'm sure he meant now".
In "The Last Outpost", Data states, "Captain, this shouldn't be." & " I'm Afraid not "
In Star Trek: Insurrection, he remarks to a child that "You'll be safer". This is said in rushed seemingly emotional tone. Of note, this was after he received his emotion chip.
In "The Big Goodbye" Data appears to be able to use contractions with ease on several occasions while participating "in character" during the Dixon Hill simulation on the holodeck.
During "In Theory" while creating a new program for use during a romantic relationship, Data utilizes the phrases "Honey, I'm home!", "I'll join you", and "You're not my mother!" When questioned about the last's apparent angry nature, Data reverts to a more characteristic response of "You are not my mother." It is implied that Data was trying act like "role models" he had found in the ship's computer.
In "The Next Phase", while telling the transporter chief to use a console on the Bridge to scan for the energy fields Data says that he will modify an emitter to "Eliminate the fields, once they've been isolated."
For the alternate future timeline version in "All Good Things..." and for all of the TNG films, Data is shown using contractions.

Who is sure she's not a liar by all means buy it let me know how it works 4 you Smile
