Well gee whiz George, that hits a nerve. We just entered our third lockdown after enduring the longest lockdown anywhere in the world for most of last year. Back then we were fortunate that they cordened off the metropolitan area and we in regional areas had a little more freedom. This time they made it the whole state with the same rules, even though there have been no cases outside Metropolitan Melbourne for months. Go figure
Huge overreaction for twelve or thirteen cases for the whole state in the past 2 weeks, with no deaths. No vax available here yet.
Anyway, I don't want to trigger a huge debate like they have over on Stunthangar.
If in doubt, just listen to your favourite music. The great cure-all

This one doesn't need a video(imho), especially
if you're a fan of the Hammond B-3, and the Leslie

Rod, seeing my bringing up the topic is not the right place here to continue discussion, I replied to you in a new thread, CEF: Covid-19 Lockdowns, more than meets the eyes in the off topic for members only forum.

Rod/George, I know this is a parody of a popular song but i can't place it.
Closest I can come is Air Supplies ................ Which is really an ode to my wife.

Thanks Bob, that's it.
The kind of song you hear just once (probably my only time prior) and remember it. Got a nice cadence to it. Funny, give me a just few bars from any '50's song and I will tell you the name of it and who sang it. But remember anything from my high school algebra and I draw a blank.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
I have never really been a fan of country music, especially new country however, I do like classic country music now and then, particularly Johnny Cash with whom I share a birthday. I was listening to this song the other day and thought I would share. It’s a beautifully written piece of music. Probably could be classified as folk music, but the singer/performer is traditionally thought of as a country musician. He passed away in 2017 at the age of 81.

Good choice Ron. Funny how when we were younger we just passed over so many of these classic songs and didn't give them much thought. Now, I tend to prick up my ears somewhat whenever songs from the era of my "formative years" come on the radio. Even though they weren't given a second thought at the time, they actually got right in there and stuck. Re-energise them and they come flooding back with a greater sense of appreciation.
I surprise myself how many lyrics I remember from songs I never liked at the time.

My wife and I grew up along side Glen Campbell and we always enjoyed his music. Like my wife he passed away from the effects of Alzheimer's.
I have an album of his that has Wichita Lineman as the second song on the list. He was a cross between country and pop, but always a level above.
A tiny sample of my CD music collection, everything from Honky Tonk country to Andrea Bocelli to Beethoven.

You made me a Seekers fan Kim when you first posted the original video here. I think my comment was that Judith was just so hands on hips cute. Still feel that way.
Perhaps this song reminds you of someone past. It always reminds me of my wife, the most fantastic person that I have ever known or will ever know. How she picked this lame brain out of a crowd is a mystery to me, but she did and it lasted for 59 years.

Yeah, it strikes home with me on several fronts, as far as what could have or should have been.
My two marriages each lasted 5 years to the month, and was I cheated on by both, but luckily never contracted any "souvenirs" from their excursions before the final break. Both my Ex's eventually contacted me, about ten years apart, apologizing and wanting to start over.
This was when I learned of the violent encounters they'd both experienced with their new love interests and apparently, a boring airplane nerd can again become a very attractive option after having your jaw knocked off your face a few times.
Neither relationship rejuvenated, and I wish both women the best in their search for whatever they think they want, and I intend to keep cranking out the fun for as long as I'm able.

I love this song as well Kim. I also like Georgie girl too. I’ll never admit to it publicly though.
Cute little thing she was back in the 60’s. She still has the pipes!

"We are one but we are many!" Your darn right.
I'm reminded of the books that I have read about prisoners of the Japanese during WW2, Aussies didn't give in while so many others did.
If I didn't love this country so much i'd move. (If they would have me.)

Everyone should be proud of where they hail from. Like you Bob I love where I am. I’ve also been lucky enough to experience cultures all over the globe. I appreciate and respect them all. Being born in the US and raised in Canada I am torn between two homes. Each have their merits, but I enjoy much more freedom in the US.

It's heartwarming that other peoples around the world can see something special in the Aussie psyche. That song Bob certainly captures a lot of the sentiment.
Personally, I would never be so bold as to claim that we're better than anyone else, but my generation of Australians are just part of a group of people from every other culture around the world who have only had 200 years of history in this land, and we feel proud about what has been achieved, but there are those who have been here for 40,000 years. I can't even pretend to imagine how a person would feel about the land that their ancestors have occupied for that amount of time. We've made a lot of mistakes in dealling with our First Nations culture, mainly through the ignorance of our white ancestors. But mistakes are not one sided. Colour doesn't matter, it's what's in the heart of a person that counts.
All lives matter.
(Sorry, that's not what we were really talking about, was it?)

Yes the aborigines, over the years I have read a lot about them (long time subscriber to National Geographic and Smithsonian magazine.)
Like Australia, we Americans of all cultures are immigrants. We came here and moved the native Americans off their land. Blood was shed, treaties made and broken. Not a proud history. In the end vast portions of this country were set aside and reserved for native Americans to administer as they saw fit. Not prime land, they didn't get New York City but instead large portions of the mid-west. For a long time I thought proudly that I may have some native American heritage, my grandfather was the image. But a DNA test shows 80% English and the rest Scottish.
But, there is a trend, especially in this country to shame and dismiss the white man so it is important to remember that white men wrote the Magna Carta, the U.S. Constitution, The Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and virtually every other document insuring individual freedoms. The shame is on those in our past that ignored the message those precious documents professed.
Actually, we are all Africans, where humans originated and evolved.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
My best years were when I turned 18 (in Sept. 1977)
Senior in High School (Class of 1978).
The State of Illinois dropped the drinking age in 1977 to 18 years of age for beer and wine.
Senior at 18, able to go into the bars (night clubs) for a beer (or wine).
Disco was the music playing (Saturday Night Fever). Hot looking girls.
My ride at the time was a (pre-owned) 2 door 1974 (Aqua Blue) Chevy Nova 305 small block V-8. (with car payments.)
From there the years only got better.
When the 1980 started, I was 21, and able to get any drink I wanted and the music was bter than the "disco" music.
The 80's had great "women" groups and singers:
Expose
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BR4cR9CeLi0 --- Let me be the one.
I'm partial to Expose because I met them in person in 1987. I was 28 at the time.
Nu Shooz
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yavaJNXoMe8 --- Point of no return
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ1tBVtYOBc --- I can't wait
Kim Wilde -- I just keep on hanging on.
Chaka Khan -- ain't nobody
Bananarama -- cruel summer.
and many more!
