I guess that depends on your definition of "good". Regardless of what Billy Joel says, that certainly doesn't always ring true. As Billy gets older I wonder if his attitude has changed and he now regrets the statement?
Yes, Renee was a legend and had a magnificent soulful voice, but I'd suggest that there were a lot of lifestyle choices made which didn't necessarily help the cause. She has lived a fairly troubled life, as do so many in that industry (sadly).

Hi, Oldenginerod,
Thanks for connecting us !
(I hope you do not mind my bad humour/puns !)
Renee was an amazing performer... RIP.
Check out the crowds she got...
Somehow she inspired, many amazing Austrailing... music performers.
Here is a hit,
Here in Canada. She inspired,

We won't need the Blues...
That is the point,

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
I know very little of Rénee Geyer, until you posted of her. I gather that from what little that I read, she like many other artists got caught up into things that none of us would ever venture toward. I reference of "good" was rather intended to reflect one's musical abilities, not the other stuff done away from the microphone. Being that she was from Down Under, on the other side of the globe, we (or at least I) did not hear much of her. But then, after the mid 1970's, I didn't pay much attention to music that was beyond my high school experiences, except for may be a few big bands. You might say, the record companies didn't make much of a killing off of me.Oldenginerod wrote:I guess that depends on your definition of "good". This side of the hemisphere has seen its passing of artists, almost regardless of lifestyle. I remember the passing of Rick Nelson, killed in an aircraft accident at age 45 in 1985, who sang a song that seemed to reflect his choices in music that weren't appreciated. Many expected him to continue the legacy songs they heard from him when he was a member of the Ozzie and Harriet Show.
Thus I gathered is why he wrote the song:
1972, Garden Party by Rick Nelson, with lyrics.
Listeners were expecting a rehash of the Rick Nelson such as:

Ricky, Travlin' Man a favorite. He had a relaxed undersold manner that I liked.

Hi All,
Hope you do not mind more Canadian music,
Snow Fakes, are flying here...
1970, I was 12 yrs old...

Anne Murray predated any, cool AM music here. 1970!
And the first one,
To wear a miniskirt, on primative TV.
Look foreward,
To your stories,

Hi All,
I apologize, greatly, if I mentioned the Spice Girls.
Forgive me.
Here is a point,
When hobby shops, around Canadian malls did not make it,
Here was the result:

Imagine if they had Cox engines...
They could listen,
And not yell...
It is music,

P.S. Close your eyes, listen to this song,
It is all about flying 1/2A to me...

Hi Kim,
That is very happy, like it. Are there more?
My claim to fame is asking out this Sax player, at the first of this video.
She said no. Great local band. Sure others are out there...

Take care,
Have fun,

Hi All,
I am new here, and just realized this topic goes back, 23 pages.
I got to page 3, and,
Was reminded of the 'long block sanding' and how important music is...
Here is my best sanding song:
the Rheostatics, are not far behind other Canadian greats.
Here is "Claire". ( I change the words to Fair...)

I am looking forward to page 4,

Hi Oldenginerod,
Rheostatics, spawned many later groups.
Whale Music, is a classic in Canada.
I have two evenly matched Cox Black Widow .049s...
Every time I fly one,
This is the song I hear: (needle up your volume !)
Black Betty is worth the adds....

RamJam from NewYork, best 2minutes/24 seconds, then run out the tank....
Judges?
Who needs judges...
Take care,
Have fun,
Dave
P.S. If you wade through commercials, RamJam does get paid.
P.P.S. The overhead manouvers are done in the drum solos, very optional.

Re: music vids.. some of your favorites
Song is Il Tuo Amore.
Lyrics in English:
Your love is so big
All seas have crossed
To bring me so many forgotten things
i love your love so well
how bad it lasted
Not to make me suffer anymore
And not to leave me alone
how much good you have done me
stroking my hand
That morning now far
who gave you to me
Your love is so pure
All the good you want me
don't give it to anyone anymore
But save it for us
Your love is so big
All seas have crossed
To bring me so many forgotten things
Your love is so good
how bad it lasted
Not to make me suffer anymore
And not to leave me alone
how much good you have done me
stroking my hand
That morning has already gone
who gave you to me
your love is so pure
All the good you want me
don't give it to anyone anymore
But save it for us
don't give it to anyone anymore
But save it for us

Hi Levant,
Thanks.
Gina,
Rest in Peace, fly on angel wings.
I hope you find this story fun.
I kayaked down small creeks/rivers with friends.
The lead would yell, "GINA! "...
All of us behind knew,
There was a,
Low low bridge ahead.
Corny, but,
You are part of our lives.
Thanks Gina,

Hi gg,
Amazing music, as usual...
Thanks, I always like your 'take' on music.
Samantha Fish knows her place, between the band, and the crowd... WOW !
Brilliant, talent, has no bounds...
I some how like mandolins, reminds me of needling .049s...
Not that much in Canada,
Can you hook me up?
Thanks,
Dave
