Maybe just maybe. I fly a good bit, and one thing I have noticed is that RTF Cox planes are chubby. So even removing the gear to save it in a grass landing still doesn’t allow enough weight loss for a hand toss.

My thoughts exactly. I had success with hand launching the Testors Fly'em P-40 after the LG broke on the first flight. If the Fly'em could do it, I'm sure a Cox would have no trouble.

Congratulations Ron!! Thumbs Up Wow.. you're a patient man! I'm not sure I'd fly it if it were mine... but it must be very tempting! I don't know much about the "Silver Bee" engine.. but the fella who wrote the "long-story" at the beginning of the thread, described his engine as being very powerful. He thought it was a "Golden Bee".. which is understandable because of the 8cc tank.

I hope that your dad's health improves.

I used to fly a hand launched stock Wen-Mac Turbo Jet (with MK IV engine) all the time with the LG in place. The Spitfire will do it if engine is running as it should. Might want to try first with a 2 blade 6-3 gray Cox prop though.

Thanks Roddie,

My Father has PAD and neuropathy. All his major artery’s and minor are being filled up with plaque. We are trying to prevent a major stroke or heart attack at this point He has alreadt lost a leg and an eye so his mobility is severely limited. Been working around the house to try and make things easier for him. He has surgery to clear his carotids, so I hope that will bring a ray of hope. He is only 70 and I am not ready to let go at this point.

I don't know much about RTF's so looking for help from you collector types.
