Has anyone tried dieselizing a Norvel .049?
Does anybody know if an RJL diesel head conversion for a Cox .049/.051 would work on a Norvel .049? Better yet, has anyone tried it?

How about a Norvel .06, as well?
MECOA says they will work. I have not had good luck with it on a .061. Hopefully I will be able to try again this weekend.

I have used a Norvel Diesel head on a Norvel 049 and used one on a Bee. They worked really well.

Unfortunately, they are out of stock at the moment

but they now have one for the 074
Never bought a RJL head to try, so I can't help there. I am sure Surfer_kris has though.
There are a few posts about the RJL head.

Thanks Ian,
I have been watching the NV site for a while to hopefully purchase a .061 and .074 diesel head. I will keep trying. I have had good luck with the RJL head on Cox engines. MECOA says that they will work on the .049 and .061 Norvels. If I am able to get some time tomorrow I will try one on a Norvel .061. If I am able to try it out I will post the results.

Re: Has anyone tried dieselizing a Norvel .049?
Well, I tried the RJL head on a Norvel. I grabbed a well used Big Mig .061 Revlite R/C and clamped on the RJL head along with a MAS 7x3 prop. It was beautiful! Within a few minutes the engine was purring along at 13,400 RPM. A little backing off the compression and it was rock steady at 13,000RPM with a good idle and good transition. Also, the head temp was much lower, like on a purpose built diesel. I think it is because of the head size in the revlite engines. WOW, this was beyond my expectations. I also tried a MAS 7x6. That yielded 9,600 RPM but the idle and transition weren't as good. Maybe I will try a 8x4 next time. But, I am so happy with the 7x4 that I might just stick with that. I am thinking that this might be the ticket for an Ace Alpha. This made my day.
