Cleaning Cox Glow Head

Hi there, again. Anyways, short and sweet. I have a couple of Cox glow heads that have some type of liquid in them right in by the coil. Is there any safe way to clean these, such as putting into a small container of glow fuel, or alcohol? These were not run in a number of years. The liquid in question is of a green hue. Thank you.

You can soak them in some denatured alcohol or even glow fuel. Fire them up and it will burn off. While they may glow and still work, a brand new glow plug is usually much more reliable in terms of run quality. It certainly doesn't hurt to try them but they can be hit or miss. Ken

You can squirt it with acetone or alcohol in a syringe. Or brake parts cleaner, carb cleaner, etc if you have it. Platinum is very non reactive, so not much besides acid will hurt it. Maybe it's after run oil. If you hook a battery up it might burn it off. Then if it's crooked you can gently straighten it with a toothpick.

I drop mine in some Hoppe's for a few min. makes em shine like new.

Hit it with some carb cleaner to get the gunk out of it then fire it up, that will clean it out the rest of the way. (Bandit)

Thanks for the tip of carb cleaner. I have some cleaner here and forgot the alcohol today. Looks like it will be clean tomorrow. Thanks again.

Yes new222 they all work well , bee sure to use denatured alcohol not the other has to much water in it , I have been getting mine at Walmart its cheaper than Lowes by 2.00 . While checking some plugs I have noticed that some take a lot more amps to get a good glow especially the W after market one's . Babe Bee .049
