Yeah its been getting slow lately. The traffic goes up and down depending on the month. I have been checking in every few hours, reading everything I can. I just haven't been having the time to jump into topics, I should have some more time soon though.

Maybe I need to start advertising the forum again.

I'm all set for my runs. Just had to decompress from this past weekend. Nothing but good weather for as far as I can see. Most likely my first video runs will be tomorrow.JPvelo wrote:I would like to think everyone is out filming there speed models so they can send me a link to the video by midnite next Friday.

We were all too whipped to do it in Huntersville Sunday. It was a conversation piece though. I pulled up to the unloading area amongst dozens of huge stunters and got out of the car with the tiny P-51. Drew a bunch of laughs when I said, Hey guys, look at my new stunter.

I passed a flyer around at our club meeting. I'll take a bunch of them to 1/2A Day, but that's not until September.Admin wrote:Maybe I need to start advertising the forum again.
The best advertising is when Bernie posts our stories in his newsletter, but not many members help out with submissions.

Rusty,
I forgot to tell you congratulations on your win. You made us all proud.
This is the only airplane flying I was able to do last weekend:

Thanks JP. I was proud too. It started out as pure fun this time again. However when I was behind after the first round and not agreeing with the judges, I went into round two a little po'd, and my competitive blood hit a low boil. I think my flying took a leap right then and I actually flew it through the maneuvers 100% acting rather than reacting, maybe for one of my first times, If you watch my loops and intersections you'll see a quality that hadn't previously existed. My takeoff, level flight through the headwind, and landing all scored over 30 points, and that's where I had been losing before. I still left a lot to be desired on my OH8s and squares but still got the job done. In October I came to play and learn. In May I came to win. The other dude, although not a good pattern pilot was an extremely experienced sport stunt pilot... better than me, and he made no mistakes on basics that I had sort of ignored as a beginner. I almost lost because of underestimating him. The judges did not favor me as a homer either. I came away from that flight understanding the focus I need to take into the circle much better, and will carry that into practice now. My squares were really good in my Saturday video flight, and those judges told me to soften them up. I think I over corrected that on sunday.JPvelo wrote:Rusty,

Well, damn, I busted out into another story... sorry, I'm still jacked. Ready to get out now and fly full patterns.

Re: Is this the slowest Day at CEF ever?... or... Testing 123
I spent yesterday pressure-washing our deck which took all day. It was worth it though, because it’s in rough shape but not as bad as I’d thought. My Mom lent me her little “Karcher” machine.. and I used “Krud-Cutter” deck and patio detergent mixed as per directions in a pail with the syphon-tube feed on the machine. The p/t deck had been constructed by a previous homeowner and the flooring planks were spaced very close together, which catches debris and eventually hinders drainage/run-off. One of the central joists has some rot and is starting to sag because of this. If I can get under there, I’ll try to jack it up level and install a splint-joist with lags or bolts. There are 2’ x 8’ p/t lattice-work panels top and bottom, that all need replacing.. along with all the 2” x 3” handrails. We may be able to get a few more years of service out of the deck if I replace these items now at the cost of a couple hundred dollars. New complete construction of the 12’ x 24’ deck will cost thousands. This will be our 4th year at this property and this job was way overdue.
The “Warrior” was built by my Dad in the late 60’s, and has a Veco .35 on crankcase pressure.
