Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
After the Limited Production “Xtreme” and “Blue Bullet” engines, we are ready for our next Limited Production engine.
Below are pictures of five different designs, labelled #’s 1 to 5. Please vote above for the one engine design that you would like to see manufactured.
The drive-plates will be of the round, Venom, variety even if the pics show hex-shaped ones.
Thanks for voting!
Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
you forgot a red/gold version and a gold/blue version
I like #4, but black/blue combo is my favorite color combo.
A red/gold I might buy as it's close to my wife's and my birthstone colors Should I risk it and buy my wife another engine for Valentines day I usually pic jewelry like that... do you know how hard it is to find Ruby & Citrine together?
blue/gold would be reminiscent of the RR-1

Gold Tank and blue case... Call it a RR-2. RR stood for Rear Rotary I believe, it could now mean Rear Reed
Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
I like the blue/black combo. I do think the RR-2 idea could be cool. Isn't #3 already available as the Terminator?

Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
I voted for #3, "Terminator" or "Spiderman"
Happy to see that majority voted for it. Black, gold & red crankcases are readily available in Bernie's store. Only terminator with blue crankcase will difficult to clone.
"Limited edition" habe to be hard to clone.

Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
It will be this box with our logo, engine name and possibly some artwork. Will be working on the box labels tomorrow.
Next week will be the first time ever that we will be shipping engines in boxes.

Please include "Made In USA" in your box label, or even you can put "Proudly Made In USA"

LOL, I don't know what he could put! They are being assembled in Canada with parts that are either old stock that was made in the US or newly manufactured elsewhere like China (or wherever he had some of the parts made). I would guess that he would have to put "Assembled in Canada" on it if anything. Now, Matt from Ex Model Engines could put "Assembled in USA" on his.
Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
There will be no "made in..." noted.
First, some parts are made in China, Canada and Taiwan.
Second, the engines are assembled in Canada (Mexico for the Surestarts)
And third, "Made in the USA" will alienate some of our buyers. Sorry guys but that's the reality and, with almost 60% of our engines not being sold to USA buyers, we can't risk upsetting buyers. It's almost like politics and religion in business... avoid ... avoid ...

I have a hard time with that statement as I'd like to think that its not true, but it probably is. It's a different world these days.
Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
My statement was in no way meant to offend anyone. However, I have lived in different countries, including 10 years in Europe. "Made in the USA, over there, just does not carry the same cachet as made in Japan, made in Germany, etc.
And I am no way implying that Americans cannot make quality merchandise - they can. What I am trying to say that is better to have no "made in" on our products unless legally required to do so.
Furthermore, make no mistake, "The World" has caught up on manufacturing processes and some of the best high-quality merchandise is made in countries we would never think of. Singapore, Thailand and, yes, China.
There is a reason why there are very few American cars on the road in Europe. It is not that American cars are bad. They are not; I drive one myself. It's the (mostly unjustified) perception that Europeans have towards American products. Since the majority of our products are sold to non-Americans, why go there and potentially take extra risk?
You have no idea how often we get customer requests to have our products manufactured in Europe - in Metric dimensions to boot.
And to-reiterate, since our engines and products are not 100% American, we can't really state that.
Anyhow, I just wanted to reply to the OP and probably put my foot in my mouth in the process

Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
Bernie, no offense taken. I totally agree with you, MADE IN USA just doesn’t have the clout it had thirty or twenty years ago. Being somewhat patriotic I find it a tuff pill to swallow...that we’re still the greatest country in the world, but that claim can now be debated.
Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine

Gosh, I thought that was us Germans

Re: Help us choose our new Limited Production engine
I think Americans like to see the "Made In USA" mark, not so much that we think our stuff is better, but because we're pining for the days when we made the lion's share of the products we bought and used. It's no secret that other countries make many things that we only used to make, and do a good job of it. Korea has much to be proud of in electronics and cars. We had a V-6 Hyundai Sonata SE and it was a marvelous car... until it gor broadsided and rolled by a stolen BMW. My TV is a Korean LG and I love it. {Removed content - keep the controversial topics in The Redneck Zone}

I like the black and yellow look! I would vote for #2 as well if I could but I voted #1, and like it a little better.
I rather like the red/blue look too.
