In nautical terms do you know the difference between a rope and a line?
I did not until I looked it up. Little did I know that after nearly 40 years of wandering thru the Mississippi and Ohio River bottoms that I was tying up to the bushes with a line instead of a rope.
Re: C/l braid some advice
Andrew:
Rope is cordage usually sold by the foot (in the US).
A line is rope cut and made up for a specific purpose i.e. mooring with loops, halyards and sheets as on sailboats etc.
Avast you flatlander!

So a rope on a boat is just a cord that's out of work.
Maybe if you packed your soap on a rope to take on a cruise, as soon as you stepped on board the ship, you'd have to start calling it soap on a cord.

I'm pleased to have "enlightented" you. Consider it a favor in return for many you have given me.

The rabbit comes out of the hole, around the tree, and back in the hole! :-)

Haha! Rustbucket, I like that. I thought I'd been called all of the Rust names but that is a first, Dave. Crusty and Rustoleum are the most common. I even get Dusty now and then. My Dad used to call me Rastus. I made up the Rockin' Rusty abbreviation myself. It fits. It's only a nickname, but they picked it before i was born because they thought I was going to have red hair. I guess they missed that day in school about recessive genes. But there is lots of red hair in my family.SuperDave wrote:Very funny retort, Rustbucket!

Rusty:
Several times I have explained the origin of my "SuperDave" handle but it's been lost in the "sands" of forum history.
Some might condider it arrogant or condescending. If that what some would think I really could not care less.
