CEF site help needed
I have MS Win 10 and latest Google Chrome browser loaded
I have Pandora ruining in a tab, I can log onto SH, Stuka stunt, Flying lines, and any other forum site and the page loads IMMEDIATELY. I can post a comment in a thread and it goes through IMMEDIATE
The problem for last three days...starting 2/5/2016:
CEF takes a long time to load....7 to 11 seconds
When I first log on I always hit the link for "view posts since last visit"......USUAL result---- near instant list of latest topics
for some reason logging on and this search NOW take a very long...7~20 second time to load...not typical
BUT more aggravating..
I see a thread and want to respond with the "post reply" link... this works---------- BUT each time I select "preview" or "post" the browser tells me my "request has timed out"..... I hit the refresh circle for the page/tab and all is good several seconds later and my posting appears or I see the preview
This is NOT my normal experience.... Usually CEF is as fast or faster than all other sites
I have:
Re-loaded Google Chrome
Up Dated Google Chrome
Cleared my history and cache in Google Chrome
Help me guys..I need new Ideas

I was going to say clear history, but you already did. And I like to leave it alone because it's convenient when you want to find something you neglected to bookmark a week or 10 ago. I'm still running Win7 and Chrome. CEF seems to be up to speed for me, but that doesn't mean much. Crank's right, if it was on your end I think all the links would be slow.

I'm running Mac also, with Safari, and I've had trouble with it being very slow to load intermittantly for about a month. No trouble with other sites.

The forum has been running slow for the past few weeks here too. Likely something up with the servers I've tried a few things on my end. It will run fast sometimes and slow at other times.

Absofreakinlutely, that's what I like to use Windows Notepad for. It's the first program I put on my taskbar when setting up a system. I use it to keep a running copy every time I get involved in writing a lengthy post. Right-click, select-all, copy and paste. Sometimes CEF will log you off while you're writing, and that's one of the times you can lose an unfinished post.Admin wrote:...TIP: If you type something up, highlight and copy it before hitting "send" just in case it doesn't go through.

Re: CEF site help needed
I have had the same problem intermittently for the past few days. I have Windows 7 and my rig was built by me with huge amounts of storage, memory and a fast video card all for playing 'Over Flanders Fields' flight sim. Worked fine this AM and today. Internet traffic increase?

I've been having the same type of problem, intermittently. I really think it was an ISP problem somewhere.
Windows 8.1
desktop or laptop, same problem.
Time Werner cable is who I blame.

The thing is, CEF should NOT log you off. I've been able to submit posts after spending more than a good hour of typing them up so there is no set timeout. The main servers for the forum are located in France.

Well, if you believe in conspiracy theory, we do not enjoy the same Constitutional Rights in France, England or anywhere offshore of American soil, that we do here in the USA. Therefore the little goverment agency called NSA has "listening posts" off American soil where the the Bill of Rights or the Constitution offer no protection or right to privacy. As it says on the T-shirt " NSA - A goverment agency that really wants to hear what you have to say!" If you ever get the chance to watch the documentary called "CitizenFour" you will never think the same way about your phone, e-mail, credit cards, web browsers or digital footprint again. ......que the music from the TV show Dragnet....dum de dum dum, Da...

Working fine today
I suppose servers being transatlantic one or more of the hops caused a delay long enough that my end timed out
Like suggested I try to always high-lite and copy my typing before preview or posting just in case there is a dump...

I lost a couple posts too. Been meaning to reply on this. They timed-out on preview.. but like an idiot I chose the back button.. twice. I was in the habit of "select all" and copying to my clipboard; especially if I'd added a bunch of pics or it was lengthy in text.. I hadn't had any issues until a few days ago. It seems like it's OK again. I have restarted twice though in the last couple days. Earlier tonight included updates that took a while. I use Internet explorer on Windows 8.
Re: CEF site help needed
Jacob must have applied the magic button cuz now CEF is and has been my fastest web site since I posted...
Keep holding your mouth that way sir!....
I find that with one leg up and using mouse in left hand slows it down again... OK OK back to both feet firm on the ground and mouse in right paw
NO VIRGINIA I am NOT sipping Maker Mark today....Gentlemen Jack and Miller lite....grin
Where is my Monte Christo #2....

I like the sound of that Eric! A nice warm fire in a nice old house. I'd help you with the wood.. if I could. Where in the house do burn it? Fireplace.. wood stove? I'd love to have a Franklin stove.. but there's no place to use it. We used to shovel the fireplace ashes into a coal hod. Picture if you will; (Roddie Serling) filling it with beer and ice in the Summer for refreshment while mowing the field!

Roddie it a insert in the living room a long way from my room we use fans to move the warm air through the house . I replaced the door window some time back with tin not so good so again with a 1/4" steel plate much better ! We ussally go on the roof and cover the ventilators with plastic this helps a lot with the draft of the cold sucking the heat out , haven't done it this year and really makes a difference. Its all good its is the Home Place . Eric

Advice
While it is still a comfortable 60~80F down here...many of our CEF friends are starting to see snow and 30sF....brrrrr
Knowing you all up north are bent on flying counter clockwise causing the jet stream to dip south, I just started my annual ritual of splitting up a cord of wood for the Texas sized fireplace
Now sore and tired just sitting here with a new jug of Maker's Mark wondering if I have enough to keep the electric bill low....cut wood that is....grin

No Idea
Why I offere the Free advice in this nearly year old thread...
Hummm.... maybe tipped the Makers a little too deep yesterday
But "I feel much better now"
