Becoming a RC Pilot
Hello Guys,
some of you know, that i am dealing only with cox engines in r/c cars and my p40 warhawk (cl) which i never flyed yet.
I received a nice birthday present from my brother ( A scorpio electro motor glider).
So I will have my first real flight (spend allready some hours at a pc r/c simulator, Horizon Hobbies) this weekend.
I know most of you are flying gas engines, but for a beginner this little epp foam gliders are perfect.
We will see

I fly electric almost exclusively, with the exception of a 049 here and there. You should do fine with that plane, just make sure you stay 3 mistakes high. On your rc flight sim, practice flying a plane with the trims way out of whack, that will help you as well.

Thanks a lot,
It is a smaller plan called Scorpio as 50. The above showed is for average pilots.
It is controlled by throttle rudder and tailplane. I will post a pic later.

Being that a Micro, even hard landings will usually not result in damage. Go out and have fun. Keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks for your interest
Can't wait for weekend. The Lipo is full, and the motor has more power I expected
The description says:
It fly's stable with or without engine. 8-10 Minutes flying time.
OMG, i already know where this ends

The maiden Flight was successful, the plane is still in good condition
It is a great beginner motorglider and has two setting modes: Beginner and Expert. I am still in the Beginner mode
I had some problems with the wind, it was very choppy sometimes. But I managed to land the plane without crash after some practice.
I will try again when it is windless, it was not possible to trim the plane correctly because of the gust of wind.
Great fun overall, I phoned my brother to tell him about the maiden flight and suddenly he was at the flight field. Very cool birthday present anyway, now a children dream becomes reallity

Had no hands free to take a video
I will ask my gf next time to take a video, but after my brother ditched the plane on her Head (luckily no injuries and low speed) i don' t know if she will come along next time.

Lol, that must have been a funny sight! At least after you found out she was OK anyway.
Glad it went well. Hopefully next time the wind will be down and you can fly a little more relaxed.

advice
Soner or later you`ll probably need some epoxy, my little COX similar to this did but that was the kids`s flying/learning curve.
I advise if you don`t haveany epoxy get some because you`ll end up needing it on an afternoon/evening when there is no place to get it in time to repair in time for the perfect weather conditions that always occur when you can`t go flying

Thanks for the advice!
I will look for some glue. I don't know if it is necsessary because the plane is very very solid. I do already some rough landings/ground attack and ditched several times in a tree, nothing happens to the plane (but you never know )
It is really a great little plane, it flys although stable without motor.
Yesterday I changed the transmitter from beginner to average mode. Now it makes a lot more fun.
If anybody is in the same situation like me, I can warmly recommend this plane.

Re: Becoming a RC Pilot - Looping :) -
Still no time for a video.
The e-motor is a little bit weak, so you can ,,hoover'' when the wind blows
Today there was now wind and I tried a looping but it is not easy because of not enough engine power.
It is only possible if you go down from highest altitute with full speed, than raise and hopefully it works.
Most times it stall and rolls over, but due to the V Wing it is allways stabilizing itself, very funny to fly and very good for Beginners and akwardy persons like me

Re: Becoming a RC Pilot - Looping :) -
I am looking for a ,,Zaunkönig'' now.
I need some more hours of practice with my little glider because this model is very fast and small (Tee Dee/pee wee or black widow is recommended).
Here is a Ebay link for visualisation:

It will be also my first self builded plane.

Yes and it is perfect for non throttled cox engines and needs only 2 servos. But my researches are bad: it is only recommended for expert pilots, it should be very agile and hectic to fly, not for a beginner like me

I bought one of these, but I have yet to build it.

It looks like it would be well suited for a beginner. Here is there website http://www.thaiscalemodel.com
