It was considered prudent to reduce thrust for at least the test flights.

Yes this was also recommended for the Page Boy it was at one time the worlds smallest rc plane with a reduced wingspan of only 8".
Smallest comercial one I know of is 6". Plantraco butterfly.

They actually now make a 3.5" micro butterfly.

Unless you are in the situation where the hobby can fuel the hobby that would be heaven for me

Ok then have you reinforced the wings?
Of not don't try a loop or anything like that or they will probably fold on you.

Yeah that is a good one but do not over do teas they cause drag that's why I reinforce foam with carbon.

Yeah, his wings look pretty thick and should accept a tube well.
EDIT - never-mind, it looks just like mine.
Re: Shell Shocks First Cox Build
Yes they should and that's what I suggest and anyway I'm sure firebird wings aren't too expensive.

My cub wings are $10.
Re: Shell Shocks First Cox Build
Ok that's fair too.
Maybe reinforce them using tape on the top and bottom
Of the wings to keep it's shape.

Second that. When mine was electric it tape did great.
My plane came out in '08 - the longest HorizonHobby plane in production. Hope it doesn't discontinue anytime soon, I need spares often.
Re: Shell Shocks First Cox Build
for the first few flights, there will be no loops or acrobatics. just simple laps of the park. but i will be re-enforcing the wings indefinably.

Great,
You fly in a park?
So do I sometimes but i recommend maidening it I'm a large field as am unthrottled plane can get away from very quickly.

Re: Shell Shocks First Cox Build
I fly in many parks. Though the one i plan on doing the maiden flight at is a provincial park. its huge! It has like 8 soccer fields worth of open area. no trees, no people, no cars. Due to weather, i still have not flown. hopping to change that tonight or tomorrow.
Also, on a side note, just bought a Golden Bee, no scratches, no dents, all original
Cheers

This is good. i will cross reference with the pics the buyer sent
*edit: It is the one that came stock with the Exhaust throttle. (or was i just naive and they never came with one, and he just added it on?)

No some did include the throttle ring but i think they are a bit later than the first runs.
maybe 70s?
Re: Shell Shocks First Cox Build
