Classic Collector, here's one, but it's a crazy high asking price.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cox-USA-Control-Line-USAF-Rescue-Plane-Cessna-O-2-Skymaster/303370797082?hash=item46a24f001a:g:uVYAAOSwGYZd1KjJ
Needs a good cleaning, and it looks like it's mostly there, but waaay out of
my price range. Someone a little savvier'll chime in, I'm sure.
Also Welcome To The Forum!

Thank you Bob! I appreciate you sending the link. I am curios about the 1953 model that Cox introduced as their first RTF airplane. Glad to be a part of the forum thank you again!

This one is nice. I have seen em higher NIB. Everybody already spent their Trumpbucks.

Crankbndr: The bidder bid way higher than he won the auction for. Nice, but I wouldn’t dare fly it at that price.

Almost forgot to welcome you ClassicCollector. This FORUM is a great source of Cox engine information and help with whatever you need. Build help, finding parts, or whatever your needs are.
Welcome .

There is no accurate guides for these, some of the more experienced collectors can give you a pretty good ballpark based on condition and what version of TD-1
I noticed the above listing sold with a buy it now about an hour after it was listed:
Starting Price $239.00 4 Jun 2020 at 4:56:09PM PDT
Buy It Now $359.00 4 Jun 2020 at 6:05:52PM PDT
A like new, early model with a decent box is not very common.

Re: TD-1 Thimble Drome RTF Airplane Skymaster #400
I have seen that price list somewhere before on the net. I did not look at bidding Mark pointed out. I think buyer did good, seller could have got more IMO.
I would turn down 745$ for my Art Scholl Pits NIB, I have seen them go for 700$ but not lately. Since Scholl passed people are looking for his stuff including me.
I sold one of his tie tacks for 70$ and still have two, they sold them to fund USA going to Aerobatic Championships one year.

Re: TD-1 Thimble Drome RTF Airplane Skymaster #400
I'm conflicted on this "collector" stuff. I have many Cox and other "collectors" that I have paid ungodly prices for and they just sit there accomplishing nothing. I'm not a speculator, I keep all mine but have given a few away. My son one day will have to figure out what to do with them.
Give me a beat up old model airplane or engine, something I can get my hands into and I'm happy. NIB items are nice to have but in the end they leave me feeling empty and not just of cash.

Gee....if you have an unfullfilling cox tan P-40 with the inverted engine, I'll gladly take it off your hands to make you feel better! I really miss mine after abandoning it in one of many moves. ....to help a guy out you know!

I'll keep you in mind.
I have one but it needed a little help, so it's an in-betweener.
