1960's Cox Thimble Drome 1911 Curtiss Pusher Gas Airplane
This 1911 Curtiss model is complete and there are no missing parts. Just curious if anyone on this forum would be interested before I hesitantly list it on eBay. Ideally, I am offering this to local buyers that live in the San Francisco bay area. The plastic is very brittle and I would prefer not to ship it. Although I am new to this forum, I have been an eBay member for over 15 years with sales in excess of $27k while maintaining outstanding 100% feedback. You can send me a message for verification if you wish, my eBay I.D. is Selletti. If the model doesn’t sell here, it’s going on auction. Also, you should know that I am not a dealer, just a hobbyist that has acquired too much stuff over the years.

Wow, that's a really nice looking version. Like you said the plastic is brittle, so she's a good hanger queen for display. If nobody here wants it, I'm sure you'll get some bidders on e bay. Thanks for giving us first choice!

Yes, it's exquisite! I find myself drawn to early aviation.

Me too. I have a perfectly balanced Wright Flyer glider hanging in my shop. It's not possible to mount an engine on though. It's amazing how well it glides. My friend bought it for me at the Wright Brothers (and oft-overlooked Charley Taylor)museum at the NC, outer banks.roddie wrote:Yes, it's exquisite! I find myself drawn to early aviation.

There was a thread on RCU with a Wright flyer based on a cox sure start, pulleys and two props(!); CP's Wright Flyer
I did fly but only just, so very scale like in fact.

Re: 1960's Cox Thimble Drome 1911 Curtiss Pusher Gas Airplane
I have a thread around here about past poor decisions... mostly about owning a few things, using them up or selling...only to learn years later about collectability and much much inflated prices
This particular Model always seemed too cool-- but when I was buying those type toys, usually opted for the more durable versions for me or the kids... I do remember the Post Exchange one Christmas , after Christmas, having all the Cox and Testors RTF models on a 50% off sale. On the shelf were at least 10 of the Wright flyer.... Dang ...shoulda bought all of them
