Curtiss Pusher Value Empty Curtiss Pusher Thimble Drome

Post  HighLine Fri Mar 13, 2015 10:07 pm

Hello everyone.. I own a Curtiss Pusher Thimble Drome with Engine that is still in its original box and in unused condition with the box in fairly good shape with no tears or crushed corners so I was wondering if anyone knew an approximate dollar value it might be worth.. Thank you in advance everyone. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. Here's some sold eBay listings that you can use to help value your kit.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/COX-CURTISS-PUSHER-GAS-POWERED-CONTROL-LINE-AIRPLANE-KIT-NEW-IN-THE-BOX-/201237475515 (MINT NIB and COMPLETE!)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-COX-049-GAS-ENGINE-THIMBLE-DROME-1911-CURTISS-PUSHER-KIT-/291333564285 (rough kit, missing parts...)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-Cox-Curtiss-Pusher-Model-Control-Line-Airplane-/141536323568 (Built, in great shape and with DEALER STAND, expect the rare dealer stand to add a lot of value).

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Cox-Thimble-Drome-RARE-Box-Motor-Instruct-1911-Curtiss-Pusher-gas-L-K-/251792750089 (just the box, engine and instructions)

Sorry the off topic, but how did these things fly? To me as an inexperienced pilot it looks like a disaster waiting to happen, and when for sale, they seem to be either NIB, assembled but never flown or in bits. Did many of them actually fly more than once?

Just curious Smile

Curtiss Pusher Value Empty Thank you

Post  HighLine Sat Mar 14, 2015 9:55 pm

Thank you for the help everyone... Sorry for late reply, still learning to navigate thru the forums.. Mine actually came with the motor and still has the original tape that holds it closed so I'm guessing its value would be a bit north of the most comparable shown on eBay which sold for $595 posted by Administrator.. I'm interested in the dealer cardboard stand if anyone knows where I can find one I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again everyone!!
