What about a Stock Cox/TD model airplane fall fly in???
Contest would be show or fly, got to be the original plastic/aluminum winged airplanes sold as boxed production models. No balsa kit stuff. Contest categories divided early to late year examples. Should we go for it??? Might be more fun stuff for the forum...... Remember how cool the Cox/TD airplanes were back in the day? I'D love to see it happen again, Mark

This would be a picture contest? We show our planes that we have collected and keep? Hmmm. Categories of: Most original; Rarity; Coolest diorama; Most broken and still flying; Most of the Same Type; Oldest example (model, not owner!)?

Gus, you nailed it!!! Pictures of the wonderful shelf/cabinet queens. Planes & stuff that you folks have been hoarding for years!!! Time to share the love with the forum... Just makes sense. All pictures, be they old bags or old planes I think would be welcomed!!!! Let's see how it goes, could be awesome... Mark

I hate to be a spoiler, this being a Cox forum and all, but how about it's opened up to any brand of 1/2A RTF control line model? Testors, Wen Mac, Comet, Gilbert etc. Just opens up the field a little and will allow us to see a lot of interesting models.

Re: What about a Stock Cox/TD model airplane fall fly in???
I do it about twice a month here past and present models (Cox and others) and have done so for years. I doubt if I have any model car or airplane that I have not chronicled on this forum. Approaching 100 examples at the moment.
What surprises me is that others have not joined in. Roddie, Kim, and I and occasionally some others are getting lonesome.
I'm all for it. Looking for some to come out of the woodwork.
X2 Rod's suggestion.
BTW: A contest? I'm not a fan. The last few have not gotten a lot of participation, exciting though they may be. Perhaps a thread where everyone could just post examples of their favorites along with a description.

OK, two categories cox/ td and all other manufactured plastic planes of the era. Should also include in both categories any flying vehicles produced, helicopters, Flying saucers, flying platforms etc. I'm all for it, if you are!!! Great ideas forum folks!!! , Mark

????
So what are you looking for Mark? Something like this:
Posted here or someplace else? Pictures + descriptions?
Ian has several threads on his own but they feature balsa models.
These tend to die on the vine. I have posted about these before so it's old ground plowed for me. We need new blood if something like this is to succeed.

Yes, all good as long as they are plastic model planes/flying vehicles made for fuel powered engines. You name it, all brands welcome. Think of it like this, the contest is about bringing out the one off and obscure different variation model planes made back in the day. What model gas airplane did we all want for Christmas when these models were new??? Hope everyone will participate!!! Flaunt it if you got it!!!! Is that a Christmas tree I smell off in the distance??? Mark

I never seen a factory built Tee Dee model . All the Tee Dee models I've seen were models built by modelers . Even though the plastic models looked nice most of them flew like crap . Thank god for the kit manufactures , least they flew and were repairable .
Guess I'm not a buy and fly guy , I like to put a bit of myself into my planes .

Re: What about a Stock Cox/TD model airplane fall fly in???
Plastic models tend to fall with a thud here Mark. It seems your a plastics guy in a field filled with balsa. I go both ways, but when it comes to flying balsa is best. The only plastic model that I ever flew with some success was the Cox PT-19.
I think your looking for static models nicely presented of CEF members favorites. My submission is above. A .060 Aurora SE5 and an unpowered Fokker D-7 but capable of having an engine installed, kit bashed from three partial kits. Both reported about here sometime in the past.
Hoping others will chime in.
BTW where is yours?
Bob

Hey Happy People, I'm just trying to stir some interest & fun!!! I'm not a hardcore hobbyist. Casual Cox Toy guy best describes me. Love the prime motivation, Cox engines all types all sizes!!! So that being said, however you want to do the contest or not do it is fine, just had an idea. I'll always love this forum and keep trying!!! Peace out, Mark
