Wow. Sure looks neat when disassembled like that. I really see the look of what a sandcast engine looks like now. Also to note, I actually really like the raised lettering. It still is too bad about the head though.

Looks like a new engine ! All the parts look like they don't have much time on them .

Re: T-28 sand cast Enya engine under construction
Got it back together this morning only to take it apart again when I figure out helicoil & anodizing. Keeps parts from getting lost this way.
Only half the head threads were stripped out (shorty plug), I replaced it with a long plug and got compression with no leak around the plug. No matter, it's getting fixed now that I have come this far.
My Enya overhaul kit. Ground down 1/4 and 5/16 sockets, a ground to fit most Enya machine screws screwdriver salvaged from my wife's 1977 VW Scirocco (best part of that rolling hunk of junk) and various wooden dowels for removing/installing the piston.
1/4" socket is the only way to remove/tighten the captive NVA nut and the ground down 5/16" gets in around those heads with tight to the plug fins without damaging them. And, thankfully this Enya has no broken or damaged fins.
Also no crust around the rim of the cylinder, good and bad. Crust helps pop out the cylinder from the case as it captures the piston. Didn't happen on this Enya as there was no crust leaving the cylinder in the case. Doesn't matter much but I like getting it out and removing the castor goo allowing better heat transfer to the fins.
