Re: Cars, cars, and more cars
Rod I have a funny story about the Thunderbird. Not a '62, but a '63 looked just like this one only a coupe not a convertible. Same colors burgundy with a cream top.
Car shopping at the used car dept at the local Ford dealers. Fell in love with the thing, but wasn't sure about the price. Salesman said - take it home, keep it over night. So we did. Wife worked at a computing center in Jacksonville near the Ford dealer and I was stationed at the Naval Air Station. Next morning she took the Thunderbird and the kids as she always did to the child care center on the base.
Not thinking that the car did not have a base sticker on the windshield she drove right through the main gate with the Marine guards waving her through. This was at the height of the Cuban Missile crisis when everything in Florida was pretty much locked down. My wife was gorgeous as was the car, we figured that the guards were either distracted by her or the Thunderbird or both.
Later that day I met her at the Ford dealer. We didn't get the car, but laughed about it for a long time after.

This car is a little special I think that on the engine of this model there were differences and it is very difficult to find the parts that are specially made for this model of our day it is a very expensive car I have already done a little cleaning on one of its cars rich man's car happy easter
My little boy is the ghostbuster car he likes old car models like me he wanted me to buy him the ecto1 its the bunny gift

Re: Cars, cars, and more cars
I would prefer a car that you can have fun driving I like sporty driving the beautiful and expensive ones don't really interest me on the picturs one of m'y race cars I so regret having sold it this little car had 400 hp under the hood Only weighed 800 kg Able to accelerate faster than a corvette Just to take this model as an example as most cars not modified regardless of the model was left behind

I'm more than twice your age David, one day a nice comfortable highway cruiser will look awful good to you too. Say when your about 90 with aching knees and back.
I have had my share of hot cars, Corvettes, BMW's, a 454 Buick Riveria, etc., presently own a 350Z that has plenty of get up and go.

Re: Cars, cars, and more cars
Of course I prefer sports cars but I also know how to appreciate the comfort of a more sophisticated car My everyday car is old but I use it every day my good old crysler 300 has now 385000km
Fully equipped 5-disc cd player Very comfortable heated seat wit dual climate air conditioner system 4x4 automatique and manuel chift transmission before this one I was runing wit a 2005 black BMW 330xi To expensive .. I like the 350z great sounds good driving very responsive But the interior center console a little high I felt a little cramped in the driver's seat similar to an Afiniti g35 stil super fun To drive

Re: Cars, cars, and more cars
I just sent my son these pictures under the heading - Getting ready to get ready..................
All my model projects are finished and I'm looking for something to do. RX-7 time again. EFI unit out for repair, battery charging, fuel line connected in a circle to excersize the fuel pump, rotors etc. Haven't turned it over in months. "Ran when parked" even after an engine fire.

1968 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser Stationwagon
Blast from the past, found a photo of this now on:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/364654658105? 1968 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser by curmatt_1
Ebay photo.
The seller is a reliable model airplane and engine seller that I have bought a few engines from a couple times before. I posted it because it is a part of yesteryear when things seemed more peaceful (except for those in the military sent to Vietnam), fuel was aplenty and the station wagon was the way to go (unless you owned a rear mounted aircooled engine VW mini-van).

That Vista would make a cool aircraft carrier Plenty of room for picnic tables, fold-up chairs, field boxes and other stuff too.
