Re: Name our new engine!
I've been thinking 'til my brain hurts but just cannot come up with anything catchy about the colour that reminds me of maple syrup (yum) and the fact that the engines now come from Canada
Maple Syrup Monster... nah... Maple Bee... Sweety Bee... Sticky Reedie...hmmm...

Re: Name our new engine!
That's a NICE LOOKING engine Bernie! "Copperhead" gets my vote too. A one-word name is cool.. and that one fits the engine perfectly. Interesting that there's already a snake-named reedy with an 8cc tank. As cool a name as "
Venom" is for that engine.. it makes no cosmetic/visual connection. I think that's important when your trying to market something.

Re: Name our new engine!
With Theresa absent, I am struggling to fill two seats lol but will try to have the engine listed tomorrow and everyone that bought a Purple Python will receive an email to this effect.

I like the pink idea from mike as a marketing strategy.
I may get a few of those pink panthers ... (Pink crankcase) with some spare parts and turn them into key-chains for my mother(cancer Survivor), Daughter and my wife
Wife didn't buy my last reason/excuse for buying #87 Purple-python . . . I told her it was for her and/or my daughters, hence, their favorite color.
if for some reason I leave this world early...
I'm afraid she could throw them away or sell them for what I tell her I've spent each time she asks.

is Copperhead out?
so Copperhead is already trademarked ...
I like mike's idea of ''rum runner'' or Rum Flyer
Golden Scarab perhaps, ...
I was wondering if you still have the #66 or #34 Purple python in stock ?
and also reserve #66 or #34 for this new engine

Re: Name our new engine!
There's a number of companies using "Copperhead" as a trademark for a specific product or company. As far as I can find, there is no "Copperhead" in relation to model airplane engines.
I haven't studied copyright/trademark law in relation to product names (it likely also varies in Canada) but It appears that you would be alright using "Copperhead".

Tarnished copper.
Bernie, what does the company that did your anodizing call the color?

Re: Name our new engine!
Bernie is making Bee's.. not BB's.... I agree with Jacob.. and I associate Copper as a color; with being tarnished.. rather than the pinkish-hue that it has prior to aging.. or retains if lacquered. Unfortunately.. "pennies" are now anodized Aluminum.. and no longer Copper-alloy. Only old pennies will tarnish.
Re: Name our new engine!
Unfortunately "Copyrighted" is not the correct term. It has to do with trademarks. Canada among other countries share the same trademark laws as the United States. Seems to be okay to use a trademark as long as it does not confuse the consumer.
So "Copperhead" should be okay. I should have researched it first before I shot off my mouth!

Re: Name our new engine!
When I am out and working the non yard areas of this micro ranch I have a pistol with snake shot just for these Jake's
AND Tall good boots
And a wary eye
I have run off more with the weed eater than I ever tried to shoot....they really don't like being beaten about the head with .080 weedeater cord at high speed....
The few times I did shoot was cuz one or more of the stupid/curious/defensive dogs was screwing with it--- oblivious to the danger
Still get each dog a Rattlesnake shot but in 24 years now, not one has actually gotten bit
Fortunately here I don't have any substantial rodent population, so the bad Jake's are rare ...but we do have a LOT of toads n frogs (have an in ground Koi pond) so the occasional Hog Nosed, black King Snake, and some cool garden snakes pass through and freak my wife out while providing fun for the stupid/curious/defensive dogs
Back to the cool engine
No Matter what Bernie and crew decide... My #55 will be labeled Copperhead

Re: Name our new engine!
Thanks for all the neat suggestions and shall make up our mind shortly In answer to the questions.
Only two purple Pythons in stock are #'s 90 and 94, in case someone wanted to pair with the same #s for the copper creation.
Not sure who anodized the parts as we sent them to a USA vendor who does a lot of work for us and he facilitated the anodizing through another outfit he deals with. The did copper-coloured test stands for us and we like the colour.
Trademark is a non-issue as no one has model engines trademarked that way and, even if they did, before someone actually got a cease and desist order, they would all be sold.
