Snow!
Columbus, MS is still under the white blanket for the first time in several years. There is at least an inch on the ground, and at times the flakes were larger than golf balls. Work just got cancelled. The roads look like they've been rained on, and the snow is only collecting on grass.
Our 1 yr old doggie has fine out to play 4 times...he can't get enough of this!
I've been watching for three hours and saw it lighten up/get heavy three times already. I teased my wife about going to shovel for the first time in decades.
Roddie may remember the winter of 93-94. I was still in Boston.
It snowed like mad several times after a few years of lean snow. Boston was hit so hard, the small engine shop I worked in was selling off overhauled snowblowers from the '60s-'70's with any engine we could stick on them. ISTR we got about 70% off from new ones. It was towards the end of the season, and no more new ones could be ordered.

Re: How's the weather?
Tiverton Rhode Island March of 1969
August 1970
The following winter I was leaving for Memphis in the Riviera in a snow storm. Starting the Riv I heard a noise, got out to check laying on my back in the snow and found a puddle of oil under the car. Somehow the check valve in the oil filter had let loose. Took the other Buick instead a Le Sabre gift from my father-in-law. Ran out of snow around NYC. Still made it in time.

Re: How's the weather?
Snow, sleet, and freezing rain today for this area. Means power outages. Youngest daughter slipped on her deck winding up flat on her back. Tried to make it in to work, turned around and came back home.
Time to start charging batteries and getting out the KeroSun. Might be absent here for a few days.
Cheers

Re: How's the weather?
Opposite end of the scale here with 42º C here Monday last week. Not good for working. Actually, we've had a very mild summer with temperatures well below average (with the odd exception). The following day we had 2" of steady rain. Normally this time of year we're battening down for bush fires, but this summer we can't keep up with the new lush green lawn growth. I prefer it that way

It's been snowing for nearly 3 days. Snow, rain, ice, more snow, sleet more ice, and now it's snowing again. I have at least 10" in these parts.

Boring, snowless muddy winter here. Not enough cold to resemble this season 20 years ago. You guys in other continents than Europe at least enjoy 4 seasons. We in Europe have lost 2. I love the other one whose name I am no longer sure about, with bright sunshine and scorching heat..no air-conditioning ..at least for me.. flying COX engines in a boxer short and bareback in the field lush with vegetation. March is around the corner..only 3 or so more weeks away..

Re: How's the weather?
It's called Summer Andras........ "Those Hazy, Lazy, Crazy days of summer, those days of soda and pretzels and beer."
Another inch of snow last night covered what I had shoveled the day before. Going to stick around too, temperatures in the 20's the next ten days.
I wish January and February away too. March offers hope. April and May are just delightful. Days are getting longer in the northern hemisphere, shorter in the southern. It's what makes the world go around.

Re: How's the weather?
We’ve got more and more snow lately and the temperatures have been as low as -20C (about -10F). There’s maybe a foot or little more of snow, but it is mostly ”dry” snow, the cold kind that blows around with the wind. More in the open places, less in the woods. I like this kind of winter weather, it’s nice to be outside wearing proper clothes and not get wet. The dogs like it too

Hi Kari, I love that kind of snow. We had about a foot this
past Monday, but it rained after, and now it's dense
and heavy.
My wife and I enjoyed the photos, and wondered
what breed of beautiful dog that is?

Re: How's the weather?
Years ago, we had an epic snowfall in Maryland, measured in feet. Dogs love snow. Cristy (pictured) a miniature schnauzer was no exception. We let her out and she just went wild tunneling under the snow arising every 10 feet or so for air. Brought her in dog tired with snow balls covering her body. Wish I had taken a picture.

Re: How's the weather?
At the start of the storm, my buddy Dan called me and asked for my son and I to go flying. Seeing that the temps were about 29 deg and windy, I really wasn't that interested. The other issue was that the field is 1 hr away and the forecast was calling for inches which we received the following day. Nonetheless, I stayed in the confines of home and enjoyed it. Frank my other fellow club member shot the video. Dan had the ski's on the antique Bob Hunt Prowler. This plane has been passed around the club so many times. It uses a OS .32 heli engine which runs high rpm's. By the time they left there were inches on the ground as it was large flakes.

Thanks for sharing the video, Ken. I can't blame you for your
decision to stay in. If you were closer, it wouldn't be such a crap
shoot. I dream of having a circle in my yard.

Re: How's the weather?
While I can't complain about winter this year here YET.... Been abnormally mild so far, with very little snow. But, we are currently getting some of the white stuff, forecasted to get 1 1/2 - 3 inches here. Weather dipping from 25F now to 10F overnight tonight. Then come the weekend, it will be around -10F during the daytime and average -29F overnight. Getting the woolies and electric blanket out and ready....

Thanks Bob. I am glad you and your wife liked the pictures. That’s our Barbet, aka ”French Water Dog” puppy, ”Hilma”, she is about 6 months old now. She is still growing, seems like she is bigger every morning than the day before
We have another Barbet too, ”Minttu”, she is 6 years now. Here’s a picture of her checking out a squirrel up in a tree.
Many people who take their Barbets to shows, keep a longer fur, we like to trim it quite short for summertime, easier to take care of. Minttu is in her summer trim in the picture.

Re: How's the weather?
45 degrees and sunny this morning, a welcome relief from a week long event of dark and dreary days.
No coat, but a hat. Snow from 10" to little or none. Drifts from the wind. In my younger days I loved to track. No problem here, deer young and old, dogs, fox, rabbits. Not a sound, the solitude would drive some nuts but after 20 years in the Navy and another 20 Federal Civil Service for me it's a dream come true.
Snapped some pictures:
Cabins quiet for now.
Garage sleeps for now. 60 days I wake all that stuff up.
