Re: Cox Mercedes Benz W-196 911 HELP!!! front axle spring
I just went through my Mercedes stuff and do not have that part. You gave me much help and tips when I assembled mine.
If you have a used part and want to swap for my new one I would be happy to help, as long as its not broken. Are there rights and lefts?
The only fee would be postage. I wouldn't bother me much have a used part as long as it was decent.
I will also keep an eye out for you part.
Thanks again for your help, I don't think my assembly would have gone well without it.

That cool-pool guy (his last name is Pool) is who I bought the complete Mercedes in parts from, everything was there except the proper muffler and luckily Bob sent me one.
That seller has had a lot of nice NIB Cox stuff for a while now but I think he is running out.
Maybe i'm the gent who bought the parts.
I just looked at the link, that me.

Excellent work Mud!
I am glad you were able to source what you needed to complete the car.
I now understand why you gave it away, a very kind gesture to the very worthy new owner.
The Mercedes is the pinnacle of Cox cars. I’ll probably never own one, but luckily I can live vicariously through guys like you.
Again, excellent work!

Really Cool Mud!
He looks as happy as a kid on Christmas morning! He looks very good for 85.
I bet he could tell some stories.

How is that three point Mercedes star attached? Pins through the body?

Thanks Rene, I guess that would make them hard to replace.
Wonder if it's possible to "rechrome" those parts?

Rear view mirrors, exhaust stacks, and hood ornament are melted in place.
The ornament pin has a “keyhole” shape and fits snug. If one did not want to melt it, it would still hold well.
As for the mirrors and exhaust, one can carefully glue them into place.
If you need to chrome parts, I strongly recommend:

He does great work with about a four to six week turnaround.
Thanks Mud, I'm going to need those services.
