Re: How's the weather?
Yesterday started to shovel the slushy snow at 6:30pm --- temp at around 30 degrees / wind around 20mph.
While shoveling driveway, temperature falling, wind speed picking up (gusts to 50 mph) with blowing and falling snow.
Snow crusting over (flash freezing) . need to get snow shoveling done quickly before it frozen!
Previously cleared path frozen with boot prints (flash freezing that fast!)
Plow goes by and leave a big mound at the end of the driveway (THANKS!)
Finally get driveway/sidewalk and car cleared of snow. (as much as I could off the frozen car)
Now white out conditions with blowing snow at 45-50mph winds.
This morning:
Temperature at 8° above with a wind chill of -15° below ( wind blowing at 20mph, gusts to about 30mph).
Most of driveway is clear, except where the wind blew drifts along the edge of it.
At least it is sunny and not a cloud in the sky.
High today to be around 10° above and wind chill to be around 5° above.
Car doors frozen shut.
Good day to stay inside!

Currently -20 windchill here in the great white north. 2 days of shoveling the last snowstorm. Highs in the single digits ,and -20--35 lows predicted for the next 2 weeks ! Just now getting our normal January weather!

It is a 1993 SW-2 Saturn wagon (manual trans. -- stick) bought new in 1994 and it has just over 200,000 miles.
Water pump blew out on it the 4th of Jan. 2021
Replaced all the motors in the power windows (one time - each window) over the years.
Done regular maintenance - shocks, brakes, tires, muffler, the usual stuff --- its been a good car.
Only one problem was the headliner fabric dropped down.
Last year:
Took the side plastic pieces out inside the car and removed the "hard" foam headliner, removed the old and loose (falling off) headliner fabric. Went to a fabric store (JoAnn fabrics) and purchased 3 yards of material similar to the original color and material (stretchy) fabric. Using upholstery spray type glue (ok to us on the headliner) Sprayed it on the headliner, then carefully applied the new fabric onto the headliner. The spray glue was sticky and rubbing the fabric to the foam to stick it in place.
Trimmed the edges of the headliner and reinstalled it back into the car.
It looks as good as new! A lot better than a headliner flopping around and hitting your head and looking like a loose sheet hanging down..

Been up to Minnesota (Bemidji) quite a few times with my older brother and his wife.
1st time going up there was in the end of May (Memorial Day weekend).
My brother's wife (Diane's parents) lived in Bemidji. ( they have since long passed away).
I remember seeing piles of snow and this is in May?
I use to go north to Wisconsin when I had my snowmobile in the winter, but snow in May in Minnesota?
No wonder your football team are the Vikings.

In the garage under a nice cover is my 1978 Olds 442 (in one bay -- it's my 2nd car but my 1st new car -- not used)
I'm the original owner (got it summer of 1979), Color of the car is "Metallic Gold" (anniversary addition) but it looks like a metallic brown.
Less than 50,000 on it. and it is fully loaded. and I got it for just over $12,000 ( and a 4 year car payments).
The other bay is a 1991 Chevy Cavalier RS - my other daily driver. About 160,000 miles on it.

Hey OhBee. You must not be that far south of the border to me. Your weather is kind of in line what we are expected to get here in Manitoba!

Re: How's the weather?
I don't know how you guys tolerate all that snow. It must be a real chore having to clear your driveways, paths and doorways all the time. Then, having to stay indoors so much because of the cold. That would drive me nuts.
Mid 20's (Celsius) here and really humid. I can do without the humidity. All the hard floors are wet and sticky under our feet. Lots of thunder & lightning last night followed by steady rain half of the night. Overcast today and still humid, but not so bad as yesterday. I'm enjoying this summer following last years massive fires. Still green and damp, which is reassuring, except that the lawn is really enjoying the conditions and needs constant attention. Luckily I have a wife who does all the mowing
Not my fault. She's very particular and it seems that no-one else can do it the way she wants. Lucky me!!

Re: How's the weather?
Well, it is currently -11 F here, and -32 F with the wind chill. Heading a bit lower tonight to -47 F with the windchill. Should be crisp tomorrow morning.... Looks like all of Manitoba is in an extreme cold warning, issued only a couple of minutes ago, and two other areas have blizzard warnings also....

I usually read at breakfast Andras, but mornings like this with snow coming down I'm a watcher. Better though in April with the Dogwoods coming out and the sun streaming through the trees at an acute angle and lighting the Ridges.

Re: How's the weather?
Well, just when I thought it was over. Looking like we will be in a deep freeze for the better part of the week. The temperatures above the red line are in farenheit, but the numbers below it are in celcius as the weather site does not convert all the temperatures. So in short, it will be getting down below -58 farenheit overnight tonight, and stay around -40 farenheit throughout the day tomorrow.

Re: How's the weather?
Wow, that’s cold! Especially with the wind chill. We are getting +15 to -5 F this week so it’s not too bad. Mild winds and not a lot of snow either. Mostly cloudy, but the upside of that is that the clouds keep just a little bit of the warmth from escaping to space... If it were clear, it would be a lot colder.

Good point. I’ve got a pretty strong surface circulation, hardly ever have cold hands or feet and that makes me a mosquito magnet. So if there is one in half mile radius, it’s going to come after me
