Always be sure to read the fine print. These are reproductions. Non-working reproductions. The name Nylint is a give a way for non-working models.
You are welcome.

As soon as I get a chance and I take some pictures and I'll show you what you can do with a little research and a $7.00 RC car. I got the $7.00 shipped car today, took it apart and plan on using the front end to steer one of my prop rod or shrike RC cars. The $7.00 car is almost a perfect fit for the prop rod. The wheels are the same diameter, remember I asked to measure wheel diameter, and the mechanism is about 1/2 inch short of being a perfect fit for the prop rod. I haven't tried it on the shrike yet. The shrike has a plastic bottom and the prop rod an original aluminum alloy bottom.
NOTE: What I meant by the above was not that I have an RC Prop Rod or Shrike, but that I will be modifying one of my cars to be RC including throttle control. Keep tuned.
More to come. I have to put the pics on the PC, then post here. I'm tired from answering email, ebaymail and CEFmail.
edited 9:00p.m. 9-28-15: to add more pictures and content. are you ready?
which wheel is the $7.00 car wheel and which is the Cox wheel?
a little history
Cox Shrike with plastic axles
Cox Shrike or Cox Prop Rod with metal axle, the bottom piece is the same in the later production of Prop Rod
Oops I forgot a picture of the metal pan Prop Rod with metal axle. Use your imagination.
Cox Prop Rod with Aluminum, (metal), pan with my $7.00 cars RC steering front end.
$7.00 car Plastic frame only
$7.00 car frame with RC steering in place
Closeup of 1 wheel $7.00 car
Closer closeup of $7.00 car wheel
$7.00 Car RC steering mechanism on Prop Rod aluminum pan. Close, but not close enough. about 1/2 inch, 12mm, short.
That's it for now. I am worn out taking pics, editing, posting. I'm done for the day. I hope this helps. If there are any errors, please PM me. It might be embarrassing.

look at the Cox stocker Nissan GTP post and scroll down to this pic:
Cox stocker Nissan GTP from same CEF Post
try to compare your chassis to the picture, ask questions of the owner of the car, see posting, like wheel base, etc.

I could use that Prop Rod front metal axle and tires if you want to sell it.

not at this time
crankbndr wrote:I could use that Prop Rod front metal axle and tires if you want to sell it.
I was just showing the different types of frames and axles. At this time I am keeping the Aluminum alloy, metal, bottom Prop Rod intact. I am working with 3 different vendors trying to get another engine nacelle/pod because both my red Shrike and red Prop Rod nacelles/pods are broken at the screw mount.
BTW one of the vendors has 1 of the yellow units left. He will not make any more. I think he is the vendor who wanted $24.95 for the nacelle/pod, "stushug (519) on ebay", "I have only yellow ones left". maybe more than one. He is not currently selling.

Greg,
If your building a pusher, you don't need any horizontal off set. However, you can mount your engine so it gives some down thrust as on this Black Hawk model
http://www.blackhawkmodels.com/gsport.html
For the wheels and axles, that depends on the circle. Do some trial and error. You will get quickly the right setting for that.

this Cox ford GT probably compares to your car. study the layout. print this picture, cut it out at 8.5 inch, 216mm, length of body and compare to your car. try to fit these parts into your frame.
Cox Ford GT 8 1/2 inch length 216mm
don't know wheel base.
you could ask the seller here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1960s-VINTAGE-COX-GAS-POWERED-TETHER-FORD-GT-SLOT-CAR-WORKING-8-5-LARGE/231700834443?_trksid=p2047675.c100011.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D32480%26meid%3D78d805ee02454834aea07415b93b07b9%26pid%3D100011%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D10%26sd%3D221889820345

hard to say with $36.00 shipping fees to Australia. maybe you should see what your ebay limit limit is first. For the U.S. I would say $20.00 + $14.00 shipping is my limit.

Re: are these a good deal?
Anyone have any experience on those Nylint models? Is the engine a "non-running engine" that could be made to work or a "chunk of metal that vaguely looks like an engine"? How about the gears, would they work with a real engine? And tires, plastic or rubber?
Lotsa questions
I think it would be a cool model if it actually worked. Maybe it could be retrofitted with a Medallion.

Re: are these a good deal?
The Nylint cars were made in Rockford, Il. The same town as Testors, the factories are only about a mile or two apart. The McCoy is pretty neat as it's basically a clone to the real car, other then the plastic engine and gears are a pot metal and not as strong as the original, just add a McCoy .19 and a set of gears ($200-250) and you running, even the fuel tank had a gasket on it just like the real one.
Don't know the full story, but allegedly Nylint got a call one day from Dick McCoy who informed them that his demise was greatly exaggerated...not sure what the settlement was and it was not the reason Nylint went out of business.
The value of the cars hasn't really gone up in the last ten years, there's a company in town that is still selling off the toys from Nylint. You should be able to find on feeBay for $75-85 plus shipping or less, the Chrome McCoys will bring more.
