Now that is pretty complex and unique, love the suspension. I like getting those boxed treasures too.

Hi Crank, it's a 70's model made by Jerobee Idustries, owned by Jomac.

Glad you like it guys. Eric, That's a brake. When the engine goes to idle, the clutch weights are disconnected from the clutch housing and the throttle servo pulls on this band which slows down the car. It's common on RC cars. It will be run but I have to check the engine, do a minimum of cleaning and fix the radio gear.

Lieven

Lieven: please don't hold this against me, but I almost bid on this item, or one exactly like in on the U.S. ebay. I didn't see the Corvette body, so it may have been a different auction. I have always wanted a Corvette model car, but I settled recently for a 1/24 scale 1957 model.

Jerobee Corvette Corvet10

I may make an RC car out of it. I need to see the car first.

edited at 10:49P.M. 9-22-15 - to add a picture of a proposed RC version of my 1957 Corvette.

Jerobee Corvette Img_0110
one variation of proposed RC version of 1957 Corvette Metal Cast Model
Note helicopter motor, small 3amp. ESC to it's right, lack of gear on motor.
Now all I need is the proper gear for motor and for wheel axle and a way to get it all in there without cutting anything. I can do it by cutting some of the plastic away, but the goal is no cutting.

HD, I didn't buy the car on EBay but over here locally. I'm looking forward to seeing that RC Corvette!!

Duke,  35.000 Jerobees were made. 30.000 with Bee engines of which about 5.000 with the external tank as mine is. Then about 3.500 with the TD engine. The remaining 1.500 were sold as spare parts. I think you 'll have plenty of chance to find one. The TD engined Jerobee is the top of the line though but prices are accordingly as you might guess.

There is a Cox powered Buick somewhere on eBay. I think it is NIB and they want $399.00.  Ouch

There are other Cox powered cars like the VW dune buggy, Van, etc. that are less than $100.00

That's a badass Vette! A car is one RC thing I Can operate. I've been known to drive the crap out of 'em. In fact I have about a 10 pound bag of RC car parts,a few electric motors included. Once I used one of the battery packs to soup up a sluggish Radio-Shack Big Wheel pickup truck. That thing would flat haul ass. I thought it was fun to roll it by over steering at high speed. I gave away all of the unpainted body shells. I drove it until it was completely worn down and out.

I bet that Vette won't flip over like the Big Wheel would. Let us know when you take it for a joy ride.

Lieven, they were my friend's cars except for the truck I mentioned, which was mine, which was just a toy. He gave my son a garbage bag full of parts for his high school robotics club. The cars were maybe 30 or 50 cm long... it's been 20 years or so, and I don't recall exactly. They were all electric. He raced them at a club in Raleigh, NC. I'll look at one of the motors and see what kind of power they used. The battery pack was wider than my truck and I duct taped it under the chassis.

Jerobee Corvette Empty or something like this

Post  happydad Wed Sep 23, 2015 1:29 am

I was trying to post this picture of my proposed drive train, but the pic got stuck in never, never land for and hour. I took the pic with my iPad and sent it to myself so I could do things easier with my PC. I sent the pic at 10:00p.m. PST roughly and it just came to my email at 11:12p.m. PST. If I would have known it would take so long I would have used my camera, transfered the pics to the PC via an adapter for my camera memory card and been finished by 10:30p.m.  whatever
anyway here is my second proposed drive train with the same helicopter motor, same ESC, but different wheels and axle. I couldn't get the wheels off the Corvette axle, someone had glued them on. Don't the wide blue slicks look cool on the 'vette. I think the blue wheels are too small in diameter, but it gave me a better perspective on the fitting of the motor to the axle and how it would fit into the body cavity. I used to build slot cars during the late 1960's in Japan when I was there in the USAF.

Jerobee Corvette Img_0111
the fit looks a little better. I just need to find the right spur gear for the axle. I need to measure a couple of the spur gears for the right diameter of the Corvette, looks like 3/4 or .75 inch.

p.s. that is not a spur gear on the axle, but it is the last Cox slot car gear I have.

Jerobee Corvette Empty 2nd revision of drive train

Post  happydad Thu Sep 24, 2015 1:53 am

This is the 2nd revision of proposed drive train for the RC version of my Corvette. It uses a Helicopter tail rotor motor and gear for driving the rear axle, and a small ESC that can handle up to 3 amps. I figure everything should fit under the trunk except maybe the main battery. I was thinking of using a 350 mAhr battery along with a 2.4Ghz 4 channel receiver.

Way Cool Vette Lieven! Cool That throttle linkage must have been a challenge to design. The bend-angles on the pushrod.. it's length.. the standoff/guide that transfers the motion 90 degrees to engage the throttle-clip.. Even the servo-wheel's range of motion and pushrod position had to be very precise. Great photos BTW.. good to have as a guide for maintenance/reassembly.

Jerobee Corvette Imgp6110

This throttle-clip ear looks like it had to be bent/tweaked so as not to bind.

Jerobee Corvette Imgp6111

You had mentioned pulling the engine to clean/inspect? Let us know if it has the larger .082" (2.08mm) air-intake/venturi. I'm wondering if the engine components were along the lines of Black Widow, as far as performance. Since Jerobee also made a Tee Dee version.. I'm very curious about the cylinders/porting used on both engines. Do the ground cylinders have sub-port induction? I know that "mufflers" augment the benefits of SPI.. but does an exhaust throttle? The cylinder would still be sucking in fresh air.. just less of it when the throttle closes. I just noticed the brass cylinder-shim.. maybe that's in place to eliminate SPI for use of the exhaust throttle?

Congratulations! It's a mechanical marvel.. and I hope you have a lot of fun with it! If it were mine.. I'd build a dyno for tuning it!
