Hallo all,

It is a long time ago I posted for the last time on this forum. A year of three ago I was a active participator and read a lot of instructive, fun and warming messages. I really enjoyed it and people are all so helpful.
I got a lot of vintage Cox items in my collection. Some double, and some ten times double or more. all bought when I lived in my parents' house and had a lot of money to spend. It was my hobby to gather all Cox items I could find and if I already had it in my collection to sell it on my own website coxengines.eu. This was very fun, but time consuming! I enjoyed having contact with other collectors all over the world the most.

All troubles started 3 years ago when I bought my own first house which needed a full renovation. I did not have any time left to spend on this hobby. If I were lucky I was able to fish a couple of hours a week to be in the fresh open air.
Now three years later not much have changed. My house is ready to live in but there are still a lot of jobs to do to get it done to my satisfaction. I work a lot and am busy with other responsibilities . All my Cox items are stored in boxes and not touched all that time and only consuming valuable space (almost a room), I do not see that changing for the next few years (planning on getting married, having children). That is why I decided to drop this hobby and keep only the items that have emotionally value for me.
The plan is to sell all in one time cause I just do not have the time to break it down and sell it item by item. Maybe break it in 4. Engines, Models, Cars and parts. I am not sure where to Sell it but will start on the forum where the real collectors are.
I will start inventory the items this week and estimate that I need a month to get it ready. Adding photos could take another month.
I think there are +/- 300 parts, 100 engines, 45 models and 6 Nissan GTP cars. All new in box, from reasonable to mint condition. Also there are some used engines.

I Estimate the total value will be between the 10,000 and 15.000 dollar. I do not need the top price for it but will only consider selling if the price feels right. If a price listed for a item does not make any sense at all (too high or too low) please let me know.

Not easy as i am located in the Netherlands, but i Will take a Jeep Wrangler Sahara 92~95 as a trade in.

Thank you for reading.

Best regards,

Bastiaan Bekendam - The Netherlands

p.s. Bernie, if you still are participating on this forum, maybe my items are a valuable addition to your website.

I know you want to sell all of the stuff at once but still, I would be interested in the used engines and (new) engine parts.

So if you want to do a partial sale of your lot, in the EU area, in €uros and without the customs hassle, let me know what you have and what you want for them and maybe we can work out something.

Regards, Kari

@Kari,

I can sell the used engines as a separate lot. I will make a picture off them this evening and post it.

I am not intending to break up the parts as they cost the most time to sell separately. I know that they will fetch a higher price when sold separately but will take my loss.

@robot797

Thank you for your offer. If you know anyone who could use and buy the items please let me know. If you are a real cox enthusiast and want to see my collection you are welcome to check it out before its gone!

Mister C.
Best wishes from me, Rusty
I understand your situation. When I read introductions, or the "How I got started..." thread on other modeling forums, most of the folks are getting back into it in their 40s through 60s.

In my 50s, I ramped up from lifelong dabbling to full blown learning and doing, and am so happy that I still had enough leftovers to get myself started anew. I hope you'll keep a few critical pieces of the hobby so that when home and family duties begin to cut you some slack in a future decade, you will be prepared if the itch should return.

So in the mean time, go make your world a better place. It's your turn now.
Best of luck,
Retired Rusty nut'n left to do but have fun

I took 20 years off model airplanes for college and to start a family. I suggest you keep a couple nice runners and plan to use them again. I can see how a nice car is easily worth more than a collection of similar value.

Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.

Thank you for the warm words and tips RknRusty and pkrankow. Off course i will keep some items for myself to show to my kids when they get the proper age. Some items are given to me by friends of family, I would never sell those. But I really got to much and will sell about 95%.

10 years ago I had time to fish every day and spend time on other hobby's, not knowing that when you fly out your parents nest nothing will be what it was. I still enjoy myself, find happiness in my work and are happily living together with my girlfriend and our 6! rabbits.

For now: Lot 1 - USED ENGINES

Engine Type
Price in Euro's
.049 Babe Bee (metal backplate) 1€ 15,00
.049Babe Bee (metal backplate) 2€ 15,00
.049Babe Bee (metal backplate) 3€ 15,00
.049Babe Bee (metal backplate and muffler control) 4€ 20,00
.020 Pee Wee 1€ 30,00
.020 Pee Wee 2€ 30,00
.049 Product engine 1€ 7,50
.049 Product engine 2 (red, marked p.g.(paul gibeault))€ 15,00
.074 Queen Bee€ 35,00
.049 Black Widow€ 27,50
.049 Golden Bee 1€ 27,50
.049 Golden Bee 2€ 27,50
.049 medallion with tank€ 35,00
.049 Tee Dee (new plastic ventury house)€ 50,00
.09 Medallion with muffler 1€ 35,00
.09 Medallion 2€ 30,00
.09 Tee Dee (With Muffler)€ 45,00
.020 Tee Dee (not on picture)€ 55,00
SUBTOTAL€ 515,00
Buy all in once Discount€ 115,00
TOTAL€ 400,00
I think these are reasonable prices for these 18 used gems, I am sure they have cost me a lot more to gather around from all over the world. now for about euro 22.50 engine I would call it cheap. Some are a bit stuck due to storing and need a cleanup. The Tee Dee .020 is not on the picture, it was not stored with the other engines. When I find it I will make a picture and post it.

If you have any questions please let me know!

I will do my best to sort out asap which engines are for sale and what they would cost.

There are some older  (.010 .020 .049) Tee Dees, Babe bees and medallions. Also Black widow and golden bee. A Venom and RC50. about 35 of the engines are nib babe bees from around 1996.

Do you have any custom engines like cox twins or ignition conversions?

Your used engines above look like new.

I too wonder what I would do if I sell my collection. I'm sure the decision to sell was difficult for you.

Jason, thank you for your message,

I do not have any custom engines. I did only like the Original engines from Cox with their Original box as a collector. For running the clones and tweaked engines are great.

Bastiaan.
I wish you well as you move on in your life. I hope that one day, when you have a family of your own, you may be able to revive your interest in models for the sake of your children as well as yourself, along with finding more time to fish which you obviously enjoy.

I don't intend to bother you with repeated individual requests because I know you have trouble finding the time, but I would like to make one comment to you and to all other forum members. While I really don't need to spend more money on yet another engine, the one engine that has continually alluded me is the .049 Tee Dee, not so much as a collectors piece, but to use. It seems that there are plenty of people who have a number of these, but I just haven't been able to nab one within my meagre budget. I am fortunate to have an .051 Tee Dee which I inherited from my late brother, but I am reluctant to use that one for obvious reasons.

So, if anyone out there is willing to do me a good deal on a Tee Dee, please send me a PM and we'll talk turkey.

Regards.
Rod.

Bastiaan,

We have purchased several estates but no longer buy any used stuff (unless it's super rare). We would be interested in purchasing anything that is NIB Cox engine and typically can offer aprx. 50% or retail pricing.

However, in order to come up with a proposal we would need a spreadsheet of your new engines.
