Re: New design Cox .049 snap starter
No kidding, Matt! Dudes, all you have to do is flex the spring backwards so it opens up and work it over the hex plate. I've done it a gazillion times - well maybe 10 - and never removed the drive plate, nor have I ever damaged a spring. Just show the damn thing who's boss.microflitedude wrote:Don't make me take a video of me doing it...

Wanna know how I know this as a fact?
SuperDave,
Just wanted to follow up on this. I received the no drag spring starter yesterday and I have to admit I ended up pulling the drive plate as you suggested. For some reason it did not want to feed over the hex drive, not sure if it was the spring or me but no amount of twisting or spreading of the coils was going to allow it to work, not without damaging the spring or the finish of the widow anyway.....
In the end I did I pulled the drive plate and it was done. Took about 3 minutes in total.

Thanks for the acknowledgment of your success with the idea that I suggested. I feared damaging the spring by forcing it over the hex; I'm sure it can be done but why try when removing the hex is quite simple? Duh?
You will soon appreciate how well the "no drag" design works. I do.
