Cox Engine of The Month
Cox Fokker D VII

Cox Fokker D VII
Got this box of parts for a Cox Fokker D VII. A couple are broken, but it's mostly complete. Nothing serious here, I just enjoy the challenge of putting it back together.
The problem is the engine is not restrained within the cowl. The molded plastic guides in the cowl do not fit the back plate of the engine, however the holes for the needle valve and cylinder align perfectly. But the engine just flops around.
I have tried fitting various back plates, red, white, gray but they do not fit either. The engine that came with the airplane has a white back plate and the proper propeller.
Anyone have an illustration for these that might help?

Never mind, I found the correct back plate. Fit's like a glove. Mounted it on a later style engine but may swap it back. I knew that box of Cox parts would come in handy someday.
I still will have to make at least one wing strut and perhaps a vertical stab, but I'm on my way.

Yes, that's a strange one. It will not accept a standard reed or a reed clip. Wonder what it goes to?
