My Cox Fokker DR-1

My Cox Fokker DR-1
Hello all,
Here is my addition to the planes section.
My Fokker DR-1 that has never been flown. It does need new decals as they are faded and peeling up due to age. And it needs a good cleaning. One of these days I'm going to build a display cabinet for all my old planes and cars so I can get them out of my dust magnet shop.

I assume you are not going to fly this...if you ever do put on a different propeller...the one shown works real good as a pusher....

It's a hangar queen. As far as the prop goes, it's actually the one that came with it. The Dog Fighter series originally came with a faux wood grain prop.fredvon4 wrote:I assume you are not going to fly this...if you ever do put on a different propeller...the one shown works real good as a pusher....

LOL Thanks for noticing that. I cleaned up the engine on it along with another engine, and I guess I got the springs mixed up. Looks I get the Duh award!navion34 wrote:Hello,

That is the correct prop and starter spring. It is a reverse rotation spring and prop. It's just a weird prop, as the rounded edge of the prop is the leading edge.
Re: My Cox Fokker DR-1
I just looked again and I put the correct spring on. You know your getting when you second guess yourself! LOLsdjjadk wrote:LOL Thanks for noticing that. I cleaned up the engine on it along with another engine, and I got the springs mixed up. Looks I get the Duh award!navion34 wrote:Hello,

The Sopwith is the same way. Also the EZ Flyer series used reverse rotation props.WingingIt74 wrote:That is the correct prop and starter spring. It is a reverse rotation spring and prop. It's just a weird prop, as the rounded edge of the prop is the leading edge.

That's because the torque of the engine actually rolls the plane to the outside of the flight circle.
Re: My Cox Fokker DR-1
I wonder how easy they are to fly as not only is it a reverse engine, but it also has a pre-set rudder for extra roll to the outside of the flight circle.
Re: My Cox Fokker DR-1
Yep. Those planes actually flew pretty good.WingingIt74 wrote:sdjjadk wrote:The Sopwith is the same way. Also the EZ Flyer series used reverse rotation props.

Re: My Cox Fokker DR-1
They fly really good actually. My first ever Cox plane was a Sky Master but it only lasted a few minutes due to getting dizzy. At one time, I had a Sopwith, a reissue Fokker DR1, and a Cherokee and they were super stable. You couldn't really do anything other than wing overs but still fun nonetheless. The Fokker however, is a little more responsive.WingingIt74 wrote:I wonder how easy they are to fly as not only is it a reverse engine, but it also has a pre-set rudder for extra roll to the outside of the flight circle.
