On the other hand, this was super nice:

Balsa always flies better. I look at these as an opportunity to craft one out of balsa. Then you have something that can be flown and won't self destruct upon contacting the terra firma, plus is quite affordable.
The first one may be a bargain in disguise. If one can remove the paint without seriously damaging the undersurface may be able to restore it for a song. If painting is required, I have Nissan bright metallic maroon Dupont Ful-Thane Urethane, which would give it a really nice custom finish. Restore that Rivets Goodyear Racer to an alternate glory.

I fall into the same group as George since collecting has no appeal to me at all.
However, because this hobby has so many different facets to be enjoyed, collecting provides the opportunity for others to preserve history and give the rest of us a chance to relive a bit of our youth and the nostalgia that goes with it. Good on them!!!
Too many times I've read threads (not in this forum, though) where heated arguments spring up over the most trivial of things, glow vs electric for example. My position is, if you like, then do it. As an uncle of mine used to say, "That's why they make chocolate and vanilla."
Re: Oh, Johnny! Why did they do Ye?
Greenie for you on that Andrew.
If there is going to be a saviour for the sport of Control Line flying, E power is its best chance. For the RC guys, it seems to be styrofoam Lol. I don't care to use E for various reasons. I like the slimers because mechanics runs thickly in my blood. Electronics was my choice of academic interest, though it was more of a curiosity, and I seemed to have a knack for it. But I'm a grease monkey at heart, just check my calluses and fingernails. Watching Wayne learn electric has given me a better respect for it, and the convenience of being able to quietly fly anywhere with nobody caring is attractive.
I would love to have some of the old Cox plastic models to fly now and then, like my old Stuka and especially one of those little aluminum winged jobs. Is that the TD-1? I'm not sure. And I'd just fondle and look at them most of the time.
>Just looked it up, add a TD-3 to the list too.
