(Solved)Tee Dee .020 tank screw
Would anyone happen to know the thread pitch, length and diameter for the screw that holds the backplate onto the tank for a tee dee .020?

Super Dave,
There appears to be only one that goes through the center of the backplate. That is the one I am missing.

Ron:
My PeeWee .020 is firmly attached to a plane so I'm unalbe to check the screw dimension.
Have you checked with Bernie or Matt? Bet they'd know. Besides I sure there are other things that you need from them too. (Doesn't everyone?)

You sure?
I feelin' bad!
Tell me if a pee wee screw fits and if i find one i will send it over.
(for free of course)
Re: (Solved)Tee Dee .020 tank screw
Nitro,
Don't feel bad, it's only a screw. It wouldn't be worth the cost of shipping. I do appreciate the offer though.

Re: (Solved)Tee Dee .020 tank screw
Nice chart. There are always questions coming up about screw sizes.
I can offer two additions to the chart.
The Tee Dee .020 tank screw (as stated in above post) is 2 – 32 X ¾.
The Tee Dee .010 tank screw is 2 – 32 X ½.
Considering that 2 – 64 is UNF and 2 – 56 is UNC then 2 – 32 looks like a sheet metal screw by comparison. But on closer inspection, it is truly a fillister head machine screw.
I can’t tell if the female threads in the forward part of the tank were molded/taped during mfg or were formed by the screw at initial assembly. One of the screws has a slight taper on the first thread but the other is fairly square. They are definitely not self-tapping screws.
Regardless of how they were formed, the female threads are now nice clean 2 – 32 tpi and will only accept the corresponding screw (without damage).

Re: (Solved)Tee Dee .020 tank screw
Well,
No 2-32 screws at the hardware store. They had 2-56 though. I'll keep looking seems common screws start out at #6 or 8. I have checked Matt and Bernies sites and don't see anything specific. Am I missing something? I have a list of stuff I need to buy and was hoping to add the screw into the order.

Re: (Solved)Tee Dee .020 tank screw
Ron, I was in error when I described the screw as a machine screw. It is a No. 2 (.086 dia) screw, it is 32 threads/inch and has a fillister head but the thread form is not a machine screw. It actually is a standard sheet metal screw.
Check this link.

Toward the bottom of the page look for a thread chart for a ‘Type B’. They show a 2 – 32 and a sketch. That is the thread that you are looking for. Sorry for the misinformation.

Al,
I placed an order with Matt, he said he would throw one in with the order. It's not listed on his site but, I guess he has a few available. I thank you for your help and knowledge. I also appreciate the link as it may be useful to myself and others.

Just received my order from exmodelengines. 3 new backplate screws. Worked great! Thanks Matt! And as always I appreciate the extra .049 goodies that are thrown in free of charge.
