[solved]Oval uniflow tank, which line is which?
This is a Brodak BH-590 tank. I'm guessing the top right is the uniflow vent and the top left is the feed line. Have I got that right?

the single should be the overflow It should be dead straight if you probe it with a stiff wire.
the left should be vent
the right should be engine.
(I could be wrong though)
To test stand the tank like you have you can put some (not much) fluid in then push air through the one you think is the engine, air should come out the vent. When you reverse the connection and put air into the vent fluid should come out the engine feed. This is because the tank should have a fairly large separation between the two tubes inside, say 1/2 inch or 1/3 the length of the tank.

Okay, I had guessed backwards. I figured the one closest to the wedge was the feed and the one closest to the fuselage was the vent. I'll try to test it like you suggested.

I described how I built mine, but the inside can look like anything.

I can see how your design would make sense now, more convenient for routing the external pressure and feed lines. But I ran your test and it looks like my first guess was right for mine. It would be nice if they showed a cutaway view on the package.

I am sure you know that Ken suggests opening them up even if they are new. It's a sure fire way of knowing what's going on inside.
Not much help sorry.

I've heard about opening and looking. I read about testing somewhere else too.
I've built several tanks for practice, but find it a miserable process.
Purchasing tanks really looks better for my future.

Compliments of an e-mail from John Brodak himself:
Mine is the BH-590 Oval at the top right. Looks like I had guessed correctly. It would be nice if this was shown on the package, but I appreciate the prompt response from the big guy.

Rusty,
How are you contacting him? I have tried several times through the Brodak website with no success.
Perhaps it's your Reputation on Youtube?

Yeah since I'm special I get VIP treatment. Just kidding, of course. I tried using the contact form but it looked like it didn't send, so I used the e-mail address found somewhere around there.
flyin@brodak.com
I sent it Wednesday and got my reply today.
Whacha gonna do this weekend, are you going to have flying weather? I want to hear more Ringmaster reports.
Mine just get to hang and look pretty this weekend. Rain and cold both days.
