Instant Control Line Flying! T-38 Talon Whip-Line from 2/70 M.A.N.
Here's a model you can keep by the door, ready to fly at a moment's notice. NO support equipment, fuel, or noise. Ought to make a great trainer for beginners to get themselves started in control line flying without risking their powered model on a first flight.
You should also be able to use it's general size and dimensions to design your own model from other aircraft.

Cool but how about the rc car in that add?
That was a lot of money for a kit that only really includes hardware and chasis!!

No motor. You just swing the plane around on a single tether stick, and hold it up to go up and down to go down. Some had functional elevators.

This one involves using a fairly long fishing pole, with the lines run though it's eyelets to a typical control handle. The plane has a bellcrank and elevator just like a regular U-control plane. You hold the pole in your non-flying hand, and the control handle in the other. The plane is whipped around with the pole, and is flown just like a typical control line plane.
He explains it all in the article. I thought it might be fun for someone to try.
